My teaching methods depend on what the student requires. Depending on whether I teach one-on-one or in a group setting, I often prepare a lecture with visual aids for the bulk of the lesson with opportunities for creativity and tactile learning sprinkled in. Learning games, flash cards, creative writing, and handicrafts also find their place in my lessons.
My philosophy is that engaging a student in an active role is more effective that talking at them with facts. I want the student to enjoy themselves while they're learning, not just take notes and practice memorisation.
I am an historian with experience in teaching in an academic environment and have held front-of-house roles at museums/heritage sites. My academic focus has been on the Tudors, specifically on courtiers and material objects. I have also focused on Tudor architecture and have a thorough knowledge of Hampton Court Palace after working and studying there from September 2018-2019.

I am currently completing a PhD in history which focuses on Henry VIII's material self-identity. I have previously completed master's degree dissertations in diversity at heritage sites with live interpretation and on the challenges facing Tudor nuns during the Reformation. My specialization is in Tudor England but I am also versed in early modernity throughout Britain and the continent -- roughly from 1460s-1790s.
I also have experience supporting non-native English speakers as they use the language, whether this be in practicing conversation or in discussing grammar and etymology.
I always tailor a programme according to the needs of the student and their current abilities and future goals.
