- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach Guitar, Acoustic and Electric. I also teach general Music Theory.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have an upper second class honours degree in Classical composition from Middlesex University.
- How much do you charge?
I am happy to teach groups for £5 per additional student. I also charge an extra £5 for home visits.
- Where do you teach?
I am happy to teach from home in Stoke Newington or to come to students' homes. I also have an excellent teaching space available to me in Holborn.
- When are you available?
I am extremely flexible and can manage most daytime or evening appointments given enough notice.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
It depends which genre the student wishes to learn. I teach rock, pop, metal, blues, R&B, folk and funk at an advanced level, and classical and jazz at an intermediate level.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
I try to help each student establish and achieve their own musical goals. Whatever music speaks to you is the music I want to teach you. I am happy to integrate elements of general music theory, composition and improvisation or to focus on a technique and repertoire based approach.
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have numerous private students and have been teaching for 5 years. I have taught guitar and provided songwriting workshops for girls aged 11-15 at Highbury Fields School in Islington. This involved helping students prepare for GCSE examinations. I have performed and worked with professional musicians and producers in London for 10 years.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I have an enhanced disclosure which was issued in June 2008.
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
I work as Project Manager for the mental health and music charity UPBEAT based in Holborn. I oversee various music workshops and mentoring schemes as well as personally providing workshops and creative support to service users.
- Tell me about some of your current students.
The feedback I receive from my students is that I am inspirational in my enthusiasm for the subject and an exceptionally attentive tutor.
