I give lessons in maths, chemistry and physics to either GCSE or A-Level students. As there often isn't enough time to cover the entire syllabus I tend to focus on students' weaker areas within their chosen subject. After explaining a topic I like to follow up with exam style questions to test their understanding and re-explain the content if needed.
I am a medical student currently at Bristol University with a previous Physics and Chemistry degree from Durham University. I have been tutoring maths, chemistry and physics up to A-Level standard for the past year in London. Several of my students achieved their target grades, with one getting an A* in both A-Level Physics and Maths and going on to study in the United States.

Skills & Interests
My main interests outside of academia are sporting. I captained my rugby team at university and spent a year in Vancouver playing semi-professionally after I graduated. I have also worked as a tennis coach in the past and am currently playing football in a Saturday league. Asides from sports, I also enjoy music and travelling. I have achieved Grade 7 on the piano and recently spent 3 months in Medellin, Colombia, where I discovered a new culture and attended free Spanish lessons at the local university.

I first became interested in tutoring during my time spent volunteering as a teaching assistant at a special needs school. The majority of my time there was spent providing one on one tutoring for the students, helping them with basic arithmetic, reading and writing. Whilst it was challenging at times, I found it to be extremely rewarding; I was with the same class for the full two years and so was able to follow their progress over the course of my time there. The way in which the students responded to individual attention and the progress they made inspired me to continue tutoring following my undergraduate degree. I spent my year working in London providing one-to-one tutoring in maths, chemistry and physics for A-Level and GCSE students. Having recently been through the same process, I find that I’m able to identify the common stumbling blocks and remember what made the particular concept or theory so difficult to grasp when I was studying it the first time round. Having the learning process so fresh in my mind has undoubtedly helped with teaching others and has made the process all the more rewarding.
