My name is Charles Heffernan and I am a Physics undergrad student at Cardiff University.
My lessons are geared towards GCSE and A Level students having previously tutored for students in the age ranged of 13-18 years old.
In the first lesson I will ask a few questions to understand what sort of learner my students are, from this I can then create a lesson plan for future sessions that are suited for each particular students needs as no two students learn the same way.
Following on from that, the lessons generally start off with the student and I going over the topics theory, then I would go through a few worked examples of different situations with the student so they can understand where each part comes in. Afterwards I would ask if there were any points where the student got lost or didn't understand and put some time aside to work on those. Following the lesson I would provide some practice questions for the student to get on with in-between our sessions.
At various intervals through the curriculum I will supply a short list of questions on each topic to gauge their understanding, this way I can track their development, further identify weak areas, and support the students growth in that subject.
My philosophy when it comes to teaching is to teach an understanding of the material, because when you understand it you can overcome any question thrown your way, but when you just learn how to answer the exam, the first obstacle can create an entire road block.
I am a Physics undergrad and I have been tutoring a couple of local students for the last year.
I enjoy teaching and have done since my time in high school, I loved helping my friends understand a problem and seeing the look on their faces, and the confidence in the subject, that came from their understanding.
Tracking a students development is something that I enjoy as well. Seeing a student go from a C to an A average over the course of my sessions really warms my heart and its great to see the confidence it inspires, not just in the subject but their personality as well.
Travel costs will vary depending on if I need to travel to your location. If so I would request that travel fees be paid with my receipt proof such as bus ticket for the day of the session. If I cannot provide a ticket or receipt as proof of my journey I would not charge any distance fees.
there are no cancellation fees.
