Craig's CV

About Me
As of September 2017, I am now a student at Loughborough University, and following something I know to be a passion in my life. I am currently in my second year of an undergraduate degree in Engineering Physics, the first year of which I studied online with the Open University. This online section was completed whilst working and living in South Korea and whilst travelling India over 4 months, something that has certainly taught me self-discipline and perseverance.

I am influential and have a good understanding of what is required to get the best out of individuals and working in a team, a skill set I have used to my advantage when training employees and colleagues in my roles in management and business ownership.

Ambition & Drive
My ambition pushes me to the top of my game and ensures that I am constantly pursuing to be better. I have developed many professional skills during my career, and all have helped me surpass expectations within many work situations.

Aside from my professional career, my recent endeavours in education are also Testament to my ambition and drive. I completed a 3-year Open University pathway in 2 years whilst working and travelling abroad – I would also like to highlight that prior to starting my Open University Course I used free online learning resources such as Coursera and Khan Academy to educate myself to an A level ability whilst travelling South East Asia and South Africa. This is a great show of character and shows I can be trusted to work to my own initiative when required.

Work History

May 2017 – October 2017 (Part-time)
Business Development Rep - NG-IT UK

NG-IT are an IT reseller offering value added services to organisations across the UK and throughout a wide range of industry sectors. It is my role to work closely with the on-the-road sales team to discover sales opportunities depending on their targets in the sector. I work from home and focus on cold calling to initiate contact with key business decision makers.

September 2015 – August 2016
English Teacher - Yongou English (South Korea)

I taught in South Korea for one year, teaching ages of 3 to 16 and adults conversational English and at times Math and Science. Teaching in a different culture and country has taught me how to interact and converse with a whole range of different personalities. I have learnt how to communicate with people from all walks of life and deal with a wide variety of stressful situations. In my role I was responsible for planning lessons and ensured that such lessons catered the needs of the learning groups, in line with the current curriculum.

December 2014 to September 2015
Travelling and Volunteering through Asia and South Africa.

December 2012 to December 2014
Director / Owner - Redwood Telemarketing

Redwood Telemarketing is a technology focused lead generation agency and was founded in 2011. Alongside the typical operational duties, I had such as: account management, sales, client support, training, recruitment and delivering telemarketing activity for my clients; I also had many other strategic focuses.

I successfully transitioned the focus of the company, diverting attention away from Redwood’s original smaller target market and onto a broader range of business opportunities. I did so to find organisations where funding for telemarketing was more accessible. This enabled me to position Redwood as a provider of higher value services, meaning more time could be spent retaining customers and focusing on customer service. Next, I redeveloped the website, refreshing both the content and design and initiated a well thought out social media strategy, with an aim of increasing online presence amongst target markets.

My underlining success during this time was that in my first year in charge I increased gross profit by 19% and the Net Profit 39%, following which I employed the business’ first two members of staff.

October 2009 – November 2012
Account Manager - Oaktree TM - (November2010 - November 2012)

As Account Manager, I was responsible for looking after Oaktree clients and their respective campaigns with Oaktree. After meeting with clients my duties included developing a briefing document to explore ways in which Oaktree could take the campaign forward and to confirm the requirements of the client and then briefing my telemarketing team on how the campaign should be focused, whilst also setting the targets for each campaign.

Specialist Telemarketer – (October 2009 – October 2010)

Oaktree TM are a specialist telemarketing agency working with valuable IT companies to deliver key opportunities based on client demand. My role within Oaktree TM was to work closely with clients to understand their targets and expectations for a marketing campaign. I had the experience of delivering some very successful first-time campaigns, winning repeat business for the company.

January 2009 – October 2009
Sales Advisor - Klick

My day to day duties were to advise customers on products and also our services in processing photos and selling equipment. I also ran the machinery for the shop and took out daily cleaning and machinery maintenance responsibilities.

January 2006 to January 2009
Catering Assistant / Cook - Royal Fleet Auxiliary

In my time under the RFA I gained a very high value of discipline and developed tremendously, even winning the Naval Recruit of the year in 2007. I will always cherish my time there as an important learning curve in my social and working life. Most deployments were of 4 months and included 7 day working weeks so my experience here instilled a solid work ethic in me.
