I have only had experience teaching GCSE and A Level, but would consider helping out undergraduates. As a scientist, I wholeheartedly believe in the value of teaching from first principles. You don't have to remember how to do something if you understand the concept.
I also did not achieve my full potential in A Level, but I went on to achieve well at university. I am therefore particularly sympathetic to A Level science students who are not doing as well as they would like to. I have a good understanding of the stress and pressure involved at A Level, and I can help ensure that students do not make the same mistakes that I made.
I am a kind and patient person, and I will not give up on a student, regardless of their learning pace.
I am an MSci Geophysics graduate from Southampton University, with industry experience in Geographic Information Systems. I have been offering private tutoring for around a year, and have successfully helped bring my students up from A Level grades B to A, and in some cases from grades C and D to A.
I ask to be paid at the beginning of the lesson, and will not charge if you cancel 24 hours before the lesson is due to take place.
If you want undergraduate level tutoring, I will alter the rate depending on how well I know the topic, how much research I need to do, etc. But in this case please do not hesitate to contact me, and we can have a discussion about your needs and prices. I may also be able to recommend a different tutor if I feel they better suit your needs.
University of Bath, PhD Physics (Current student) - looking at the characteristics and propagation of low frequency sound in the ocean.
University of Southampton, MSci Geophysics, 2013-2017 (Grade: 2:1)
My masters degree involved searching 3D seismic data for frozen methane gas in the seabed offshore Scotland. This involved an intensive use of applied mathematics and physics. My undergraduate years covered a wide range of topics, particularly in pure geology, mathematics and physics. I also chose to study other topics such as oceanography, geochemistry, coastal sediment dynamics, biogeochemistry, earth history, and palaeoclimatology.
University of Adelaide, Semester Abroad, 2016 (Average Grade: 1st)
I chose to attend Adelaide University to study specialist modules in petroleum drilling engineering, mining engineering (particularly in resource estimation), and geophysical exploration methods.
