Physiotherapist, clinic owner, MSc in Sports and Exercise Medicine and Level 4 Strength and Conditioning Coach

Methodology

My methodology is based on coaching principles. My style is to provide information when needed but with a focus on facilitating clinical reasoning and supporting students to develop their knowledge to a deeper level through coaching techniques. My teaching would be most suited to undergraduates, but having been through the Masters route and understanding what it is like to be studying as a post grad and working/coping with life I can assist those undertaking post graduate study too.

Experience

I am a physiotherapist who graduated from UWE Bristol in 2010. In September 2019 I completed my MSc in Sports and Exercise Medicine. I currently run my own clinic, work with elite tennis players and swimmers as well general clinical work. I have experience working in Rugby, with marathon runners and triathletes. I have worked in a mentoring capacity through the CSP mentoring platform for the last year too.

Sam's CV

I graduated in 2010 and have since built experience and developed specialist skills in musculoskeletal medicine. I have worked in the NHS and a variety of private clinics, as well as volunteering my time in order to gain experience in the sporting environment. I have spent time with several professional cricket teams including the England Senior Women’s Cricket Team, which involved a post season screening weekend. I am experienced in treating sports and musculoskeletal injuries, post-operative rehabilitation and chronic pain. I hold special interest memberships with EUSSER and the ACPSEM in order to facilitate my expertise in diagnosis and management of upper quadrant pathologies within sport. To further my development, I am undertaking an MSc in Sports and Exercise Medicine at Queen Mary University which is due for completion in September 2019.

Perfect! Sam was a great help to me with a wide range of subjects within the Musculoskeletal section of my Physiotherapy degree. He put time into creating power point presentations that were specific to the areas that I was studying. I would thoroughly recommend him.

Sam's response

Maisie showed an excellent willingness to learn and was able to implement feedback and ideas into practice quickly. Spending time developing knowledge of specific pathologies will enable her to improve clinical reasoning skills in regards to diagnosis and ultimately to justifying her treatment decisions.

Sam is always there to help me out in my role as a sports therapist. He gives me his expertise advice with cases I may be unsure of and he always checks in to see how the progress is going with those situations. He is so professional and helpful and is someone I can always rely on for great physio.

Sam was very good at helping me prepare for my musculoskeletal exams. He took lots of time to prepare PowerPoint presentations for me to keep and revise from. He was a huge help to me.

Sam has recently taken the time to distance mentor me after I struggled to drive my own CPD as a self employed practitioner. He has been critical in advising me around goal setting and answering any clinical questions that I have. I would recommend Sam to anyone looking for tutoring or mentorship and I am entirely greatful for his recent help.
