My teaching methodology is all based upon structured and planned activities and 1:1 development plans.
My lessons are designed to be as interactive as possible and not to repeat the same plan every week.
I believe that with music, enjoyment is essential for the brain to take in information.
I graduated from University in 2015 with a B.Mus.(Hons) in Jazz, Popular and Commercial Music. Since then, I have tutored in the higher education setting which included music theory, performance and production.
I specialise in the instrumental tuition of the Piano but I can also teach Guitar, Bass and Drums.
South Tyneside College – Trainee Lecturer – September 2015 – March 2017 – As part of a programme which studied education at post graduate level, I was required to undertake a voluntary placement at a higher education college. In this role, I would support the current teaching staff as well as teaching and preparing my own lessons to students.
Self-Employed Musician – September 2012 – Currently – Singer and Pianist playing in local live music venues at late hours and at weekends. Within this role, I also write songs and work as a session player for other musicians.
Events Manager – Acoustica Music Events – April 2017 – Present – I am employed by Acoustica Music Events to host live music nights in several venues in Tyne and Wear, this role includes the management of equipment, performance schedules and the selection of the performers
Open Mic Host – Beggars Bridge – February 2017 – October 2018 – My role as an open mic host was to provide the equipment to a live music venue, promote the night on social media, to arrange for performers to come to the night and then to perform myself. This role required great communication skills with the venue staff, the performers and the general public – the audience.
