I have been a teacher at the Florence University of the Arts and have a lot of teaching experience with young children and adults. My teaching method adopts to every kind of student. I have an enthusiastic and positive approach to music and to music education. I look forward to teaching you!
I offer piano lessons in Manchester for all ages and levels. I finished my Bachelor and Master’s degree in piano performance in Italy (Florence Conservatory) also studying in Vienna at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien. I am currently pursuing a postgraduate diploma in piano solo performance at the Royal Norhern College of Music.
Born in Florence, Italy, Italian and American pianist Giulia Contaldo completed her Bachelor's and Master's degrees with highest honors and special mention in piano under Giovanna Prestia at Florence' s “Luigi Cherubini” Conservatory. Since 2012, Giulia has studied at Imola International Piano Academy with teacher Jin Ju where she completed her diploma in september. She is has been a klavierkammermusik postgraduate student at the Universität für Musik und darstellende kunst Wien and from september 2019 she has been offered a full scholarship for the Advanced Postgraduate Diploma in Piano Performance at the Royal Northern College of Music.
Giulia has performed Beethoven’s Piano Concerto n.1 with both Orchestra del Carmine and Giovane Orchestra d’Abruzzo. She was a soloist in Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy op.80 with the Florence Conservatory Orchestra, with whom she also performed the Schumann Piano Concerto in 2017 at the Teatro Verdi of Florence.
Giulia has received numerous prizes, including top first prizes at the J.S. Bach Italian National Competition (S.Levante), the Beethoven Prize at the Premio Crescendo-Firenze Competition, the Gradus ad Musicum Certamen Competition, the National Competition “Città di Bardolino”, the Chianti International Music Competition, the Chamber Music Competition “Citta di Piove di Sacco”, the 15th International Maria Giubilei Piano Competition with an award to the Mozarteum Sommerakademie with Aquiles Delle Vigne, 5th prize at the International Competition „Prémio Internacional de Piano Figueira da Foz“ (Portugal), 1st prize at Zuccotti International Piano Competition, 2nd Prize at Massarosa International Piano Competition. With violinist Sara Pastine, Giulia won the first prize in the International Chamber Music Competition “Massimiliano Antonelli” (Latina), the “A. Burri” Chamber Music Competition organized by Festival delle Nazioni and most recently the duo was awarded a prize at the 32nd Concours Européen de Musique de Chambre organized by FNAPEC (Paris), the “Giovanni Guglielmo” Competition in Padova, Onstage International Competition. The duo recently played alongside worldrenowned violist Bruno Giuranna. The Duo has played for many festivals including: Amici della Musica di Modena, Aurore Musicali (Torino), Teatro degli Impavidi (Sarzana), Lyceum Club Internazionale (Firenze), Casa Martelli (Firenze), Spoleto (Festival dei Due Mondi), Latina (Salotti Musicali), Festival delle Nazioni (Città di Castello), Festival Internazionale di Musica da Camera (Asolo), Imola (Emilia Romagna Festival), Società A.C.A.M (Crotone) etc. As a soloist Giulia has performed throughout Italy as well as in Manchester, Paris, London, Vienna.
Giulia received a scholarship to the “Young Artist Piano Program” of the Tanglewood Institute and has participated in masterclasses with Aquiles Delle Vigne, Boaz Sharon, Bruno Canino, Alexander Kobrin, Andrea Lucchesini, Lilya Zilberstein (at the prestigious Accademia Chigiana of Siena), Boris Berman, Ian Jones, Benedetto Lupo for solo repertoire, Luc-Marie Aguera (Quartetto Ysaye), Bruno Giuranna, Alain Meunier, Rainer Shmidt (Hagen quartet) for chamber music.
In November 2018 Giulia started collaborating with Virgilio Sieni's Dance Company, in the production “Prélude à l' après-midi d'un faune” which was performed at Teatro della Pergola in Florence and will be repeated in other venues in 2019.
From 2015 to 2016 Giulia was the pianist of the Italian National Youth Orchestra (Orchestra Giovanile Italiana), performing in Ullmann's Opera Der Kaiser Von Atlantis for 13 instruments for the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and collaborating with chamber ensembles of the Orchestra.
Giulia has also taught piano at the Florence University of the Arts.
