- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach Classical Piano to people of all ages and abilities. Lessons will include tackling issues of technique and musicality. Lessons will of course include elements of music history, performance practice issues and aspects of contexts of style. I have experience in public performing, and am able to tackle the issues which develop alongside this.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have Grade 8 violin and piano, both with distinction. I also have the DipABRSM diploma for piano, with distinction and A level music (Grade A).
- How much do you charge?
Fees: £16 - 45 mins, £20 - 1 hour. For younger students or beginners I am happy to offer 30 minute sessions for £10.
- Where do you teach?
I usually teach from home as I not drive, but I'm happy to travel within Greater Manchester when possible, providing the bus routes are regular. In some cases travel expenses may be required.
- When are you available?
Lesson times can be arranged prior to first meeting, though evenings and weekend mornings are preferred.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I am happy to teach students of any age and any ability up to ABRSM Grade 8.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
I am a young and friendly teacher, who can offer a passionate and insightful service. My main aim is to inspire people and share my love not only of the piano but of Classical Music.
- What kind of experience do you have?
Teaching: As a student at a music conservatoire I am constantly required to provide reports and critiques of fellow student performances (which are naturally of a high standard). In terms of teaching beginners I have several years of experience with private tuition (with 100% pass-rate in ABRSM exams). I have also recently, as part of my course, shadowed other teachers and worked in a school. I have experience teaching children and adults.
Performance: I have many years of performance experience. I have performed in small concerts in London, North and South Wales and the North West, as well as appearing in larger venues such as St. David's Hall Cardiff, The Wales Millenium Centre, The House of Commons and in Ludwigsburg, Germany. I have competition experience, and have previously won the National Eisteddfod of Wales.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
- Where and with whom did you train?
I am currently a student at the Royal Northern College of Music, with Norma Fisher. I previously studied at the junior department of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama with Nicola Meecham. I received scholarships to study at both institutions.
