I am a postgraduate Chemist intending to tutor students from GCSE to undergraduate level.
Lessons will be planned accordingly based on the student's current knowledge and any deficiencies. Comprehensive tutoring will be given on each topic in bitesize segments. Lessons will include handouts and practise problems to be completed as homework, which I will mark in my own time to provide useful feedback.
As a patient person with a passion for teaching and learning, I will set out to tailor my lessons to each student to suit their needs.
I am new to professionally tutoring students. I do however have a record of stepping up to teach fellow students throughout my years as a student. I take pride in successfully explaining complex ideas by use of analogies to supplement material.

Master of Science in Catalysis Chemistry. Lectures included examination of the synthesis of gold nanoparticles, with focus on the control of the size, morphology, shape and size distribution. Practical sessions included synthesis of gold nanoparticles as heterogeneous catalyst using wet impregnation techniques and charaterisation by SEM, TEM, XEDS, EPR, AAS.
Master Project performed in Chemical Biology, directed by Prof. Rudolf Allemann (Exploration of the enzyme kinetics and thermal stability of dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR) enzyme from Geobacillus stearothermophilus).
Expression and purification of wild-type and mutants of Bs DHFR in E. coli (Ni-NTA chromatography, anion exchange and size-exclusion chromatography in FPLC systems, SDS-PAGE electrophoresis)
Structural and physical studies of DHFR by circular dichroism
Kinetic studies by UV-Vis spectrometry and stop-flow spectrophotometry

For the time I have known Sam he always has seemed fascinated by the sciences, which I believe is crucial in being able to not just teach the subject but to make it interesting. Sam also presents himself as a friendly, patient person who I think would genuinely enjoy the experience of tutoring.
Sam is a very enthusiastic, passionate and patient person, who not only has excellent knowledge in his subject but ensures he provides a fun and pleasant environment for others to learn!
I lived with Sam during my time studying at University, and he was always there to help or lend a hand with his large array of Chemistry knowledge. He is a very likeable person who is easy to talk and work with. He is truly dedicated to the work he does and the knowledge he passes on to those around him. I highly recommend Sam to anyone who is looking for a genuinely nice guy with an ample amount of scientific knowledge.
