My teaching methods vary depending on the student. I have taught students from the age four to the eighty four and every student has a different way of learning and a different reason for learning. I have studied the pedogogic methods of Kodaly and Dalcroze but they are not always applicable to the situation. I have often been commended on my patience and engaging lessons, particularly with younger children.
I am a postgraduate music student located in central London. I have a degree in music and have been teaching the piano for approximately five years. I teach classical, jazz and pop as well as music theory to a high level.
Ideally the lesson should be cancelled 24 hours before the time however, I am aware that this is not always possible.
I am a conscientious, enthusiastic and outgoing individual. I graduated from Oxford Brookes University with a degree in Music BA in May 2020 continued my further education at Kings College London aiming to graduate with an MMus in Music in September. I have a range of experience across different sectors, at varying degrees of professionalism. I pride myself on my enthusiasm and positive outlook, always looking to develop new skills. I enjoy undertaking new challenges and as a people-person I like building relationships with clients and agencies, which I have experienced through various event bookings and teaching roles. I am energetic and keen to embrace any opportunity to learn. I have highlighted my desire to learn through my pursuit of a postgraduate degree. Furthermore, I have frequently secured freelance musician roles through networking as well as various teaching roles with several agencies. I am looking to utilise my communication, written and analytical skills, gained through my multi-faceted degree and employment history.

Westminster Special Schools- College Park School
Classroom Teaching Assistant, Bayswater April 2021 – July 2021
During my time as a teaching assistant at College Park School I was placed in a variety of classrooms to support the special needs of children of all ages. This role required me to learn quickly, navigating the difficulties faced with non-verbal children. This prompted me to teach myself Makaton to improve my communicative skills and to ensure that I could communicate with any child regardless of their verbal skills. The severity of behavioural difficulties within the school ensured that I had to be incredibly focussed and vigilant whilst in the classroom and around the school to ensure the safety of any children at risk of potential injury. Throughout my time at College Park School I exhibited an abundance of patience when working with the students. From monitoring snack time with younger students to working one to one with teenagers, my equanimity and determination created a calm and successful work environment. Building good relationships whilst working in the classroom with other staff members was an essential aspect of the job as working as a team was the most efficient and beneficial way of managing the class.
Susanna Cassam Music Tuition
Piano Teacher, Oxford and London February 2019-
I was recruited as a piano teacher for Susanna Cassam in 2019. This role allowed me to share my knowledge of music with children and adults wanting to learn the piano. Throughout my time at Susanna Cassam’s Music Tuition I have taught classical, jazz, pop, contemporary and blues piano. Moreover, I have taught the ARBSM syllabus in which my students received high marks as well as teaching up to grade five music theory. Due to the issues faced with Coronavirus, much of my teaching had to be moved online for a significant period of time however, my adaptability allowed me to provide effective lessons regardless of the circumstances. Teaching adults who have experience playing the piano has given me the opportunity to teach at a high level.
Pianist, Double Bassist and Arranger June 2018-
I manage, perform with and arrange for a jazz trio with two other musicians. In 2018, I assembled a jazz trio having worked with two likeminded musicians for a long period of time. With the ensemble, I have performed at a variety of occasions including weddings, funerals, jazz evenings and birthday parties. I have ensured that with each rehearsal and concert the ensemble has maintained the utmost professionalism guaranteeing punctuality and generating a good rapport with all clients. Furthermore, my communication skills have provided me with the social tools to create new contacts and build relationships with clients. This role has required me to manage time efficiently when organising rehearsals and managing set times. As band manager, I have been in charge of finances and fees, distributing money to the ensemble accordingly as well as keeping track of payments from clients.
Classroom Teaching Assistant, Dudley June 2016 and July 2017
I did several weeks work experience at Woodsetton Primary School in 2016 and 2017.
