Depending on the subject, the lesson structure will vary.
For history, politics and philosophy, I will explain topics and concepts to the student, give them additional resources, and if requested, I will correct their essays. I may also give you extra readings to improve your understanding of the topic at hand.
For maths, I will run through problem areas with you and will then assign practice problems to ensure the student has fully understood the topic.
For German lessons, the focus of the lesson will be different, depending on whether the student wants to improve their writing or speaking skills. In the former case, I would correct their essays and discuss the corrected version with the student. If necessary, I will do targeted exercises to improve the student's skills in certain areas. In the latter case, I will practice speaking in a conversational style and give the student additional vocabulary to learn, if necessary.

I focus on developing a true, deep understanding of the concepts at hand rather than memorization.
I use a three-step system to achieve this, beginning with the explanation of the topic at hand.
When explaining, I embed the given topic in a context, demonstrating the concept’s connection to others. I ensure that the students have understood the topic by getting them to explain the concept to me by using the concept.
After that, I practice essay writing with students’ by correcting their essays, assigning essay questions and running through essay structures with students. Furthermore, I will assign additional material such as explanatory videos, documentaries or additional texts to deepen the students’ understanding of the topic at hand. In philosophy and politics, especially, it can be incredibly helpful to read good secondary literature to understand the context of a given text.
