About Sara
I graduated from The University of Texas with a degree in education. I taught fifth grade for five years, with math always being my favorite subject to teach.
SAT Math: 800/800 (perfect score)
In 2018, I decided to go back to school to get my MS in Business Analytics. I am a senior data scientist at a marketing company, and I get to put my math skills to use everyday.
The combination of loving math and loving kids is a strong combination for helping students reach their full potential.

Often when people struggle with computation and math problem solving, students need to be taught to picture concepts underlying math problems. Students often try to memorize facts instead of thinking through the problem and reasoning what's happening. By using proven strategies, I will help kids image problems to the point where math is enjoyable.
Common struggles:
1. Math facts
2. Relationships between numbers and operators
3. Word problems
4. Estimation
5. Advanced math
Based on the student's needs, I will meet the student where they are, but often the lesson plan goes as follows:
1. Warm-up/Game (15 minutes)
2. Math Review (15 minutes)
2. Lesson (15 minutes)
3. Lesson Practice (15 minutes)
