MA Primary Education student-teacher providing additional support for primary studies. Specialising in Early Years and Upper Years.

Methodology

Hello!

My name is Lois, a 21 year old student teacher currently studying MA Primary Education with Religious Studies at The University of Edinburgh. I am in my 3rd year of my degree and have recently finished a year-long placement in a primary school in Edinburgh. The years I have the most experience in are Primary 1 and Primary 7, however I do not limit myself to this and am more than happy to accommodate to whatever level your child needs/do extra studies of my own to make sure I am able to support.

I am an enthusiastic student teacher who is very keen to support primary children outside of school in any areas they may need extra help in. I am happy to help with homework, reading, or generally tutor in a particular area. The lesson structure can be adapted to you and your child's needs and preferences.

When tutoring I love getting to know my students and find out what they would feel would make the lessons as fun and engaging as possible for them! As a student teacher I am fortunate in that I have many interesting resources available to me.

Experience

I have been teaching in a Primary School for the last year on a year-long placement in Primary 1 and Primary 7.

This will be my first time giving formal lessons to children on a one-on-one basis. As a student teacher, I am used to giving lessons to a class of 25 or more children, and so am delighted I can also offer the opportunity for more individualised and personal learning.

I have had 4 teaching observations within the last year and all have been passed first time and satisfactory.

Prior to starting my teaching degree I have done English Literature tutoring at Secondary level in the past, as well as being a Sunday School teacher for 3-4 years.

Lois' attitude towards teaching is unlike anything I have seen in any teacher I have come across. She clearly has the best interests of every child she works with at heart, and presents herself in a way that is both welcoming and authoritative. The effort she goes to meet her pupils' needs is incredible for a student teacher, and most importantly, you can tell she genuinely enjoys working with children! I cannot recommend Lois enough.
