« Marihah is an exceptional tutor. Despite today’s society with being very demanding on students, very fast paced and children mentally maturing at a rapid pace, not many tutors nor teacher are as adaptable and persistent as I’ve seen with Marihah. Her patience is beyond measures and she truly goes above and beyond to accommodate children’s needs as I have whilst being privileged to shadow her class. She has a dedicated work ethic and sees pupils talents and builds confidence within her children - she truly cares for children and this is such a rare find. Not only does she want her children to develop she also cares deeply for their wellbeing. This can be affirmed as many parents I spoke with and the other teachers within her primary school have a tremendous amount of respect for her and have seen her children become more capable, confident, positive and inquisitive. She holds a special bond with each individual child and they endear her so. If you decide to choose Marihah as a tutor for your child, there will most certainly be a visible difference to your child’s education and attitude. »

Methodology

Hello, my name is Marihah Ahmed and I am a primary school teacher capable of providing support across numerous subject areas. Very quickly I have already established myself in my current school as a teacher that not only understands and focuses on a child’s academic abilities and strengths; but also their individual interests, qualities and circumstances to provide the most effective learning experiences possible.

Experience

I am a qualified Scottish primary school teacher entering my third year of teaching. I hold a bachelors degree and a permanent post in Glasgow at the moment.

Professional Summary
As a Primary School teacher, I accommodate the needs of learners by providing instructive strategies that are governed by the pupils’ background knowledge, experiences, learning styles and environment to ensure their individual learning needs are met. I understand that all these factors contribute to a child’s understanding and that I must modify my teaching approaches to suit the variety of needs in my class. Creating an inclusive and positive environment, I believe that I provide the best possible setting for children to flourish. I am consistent, approachable and fair in my classroom management which has created a trusting relationship between the pupils and me. As a result, this positive relationship has been mirrored in my communication with the parents.

Work History:

Job Title: Class Teacher
I am responsible for planning and delivering a curriculum which meets the needs of all my children. I have to ensure that I continually observe and assess the children through summative and formative assessment. This allows me to evaluate the children's knowledge and experiences, in order to set realistic and achievable targets. I arrange the pupils' learning and teaching in such a way that meets the needs of all and ensures that they are fully engaged in the learning opportunity. Individual target setting is part of my weekly routine. This allows each child to have reachable and manageable goals which can be reviewed at the beginning of each new week by myself and the individual. This is reinforced by self and peer assessment through incorporating a traffic light marking scheme. Resultantly, I get to know my class' strengths and weaknesses and can put measures in place that can scaffold their learning journey. Over the course of the last two years, I believe that I have grown through research and reflection. The network that I have established has really helped me grow as a teacher.

Organisation: Morrisons (Supermarket Company) From 29/05/2015 - 06/08/2017
Job Title: Customer Assistant
Department: Administration
My time at Morrisons allowed me to develop my knowledge and skills in retail. I pride myself on the length of time I stayed with this company considering I was still a student, demonstrating my commitment to a job. The experiences that I gained here were valuable. Teamwork and communication were key to the success of the store and I was expected to interact with colleagues and customers appropriately. When working at the store, I was responsible for both the administration aspect and working on the shop floor; helping customers and working on the checkouts. This required good organisational skills as it was a very fast paced environment.

Organisation: University of Glasgow From 23/09/2013 - 27/06/2017
Job Title: Student
Department: School of Education
As a student here, I studied for my teaching degree (Bachelor of Education). During my time at university, I learned about some of the theories regarding child development, as well as the principles of a good learning and teaching cycle. I undertook placements in several schools and a nursery over the four years, working with children of all ages. These placements also gave me invaluable opportunities to learn from and work alongside established professionals, building upon the knowledge gained at university. Whilst on placement, I was responsible for the planning, teaching and assessing of the learners under guidance from the class teacher and according to the remit set by the university. I also engaged in practitioner inquiry, focussing on the use of collaborative and co-operative learning strategies and examining whether these would have a positive impact on the social skills of young children.

Marihah is very friendly and approachable and above all else will be more than just a tutor, she will be a helping hand throughout the process and will be more than happy to assist at any time (just drop her a wee email or message :) ). Watching Marihah teach, I've found she's very patient and accomodating to all students and will take the time to explain teaching points in different ways if required for students having a hard time grasping certain points. Marihah's dedication to education and teaching is admirable and inspiring. She is very hardworking, motivated and has a great rapport with the kids she teaches at school (many wishing they could keep her as their teacher).
