For a list of subjects i teach please see the bottom of this section (methodology).
I plan ahead and create a structured plan for the long-term. My lesson plans are very detailed and include extra activities and tasks to extend their knowledge. To engage the individual i create 'fun' lesson plans, meaning although there will be a lot of learning the individual isn't bored or overwhelmed as i introduce fun activities practising the skill to engage them which also help them maintain it in their memory. I start my lessons of with a ten minute starter practising the skills we learnt last lesson, the main part of the lesson is teaching and practising a new skill, and the last five minutes is a plenary speaking about next lesson and what the individuals feels about today's lesson and how they think they could improve. This self-assessment will help them identify their strengths and weaknesses which helps them personally improve. After the lesson i type up a lesson overview. I will also have my own opinions about how the lesson went and these will be available in the lesson overview which will be emailed to you as the parent/guardian. It is also possible for me to give them to access to websites such as times tables rockstars and ect which they can use in their free time if they wish. I believe in positive reinforcement so if the individual does well on something i will reward them through stickers, certificates ect.
Subjects i teach:
I am a primary school teacher with a valid dbs check. I have been tutoring for roughly 4 years. I have given maths sessions to those studying for their 11+ as well as years 7,8,9 and 10 preparing them for their GCSE's or giving them extra support. My main area of experience is teaching in primary schools with a vast amount of subjects. I currently teach in years five and six which is a joint class due to it being a small village school. I have also tutored primary school children not related to my work place and am currently preparing a few students for their 11+
