I'm extremely passionate about architectural education. I was educated myself at numerous world-class institutions, gaining three first class degrees and winning a number of awards for my own academic projects. I have private tutoring and guest critic experience both here in the UK and overseas. Since graduating my Masters in 2010 and becoming a chartered Architect in 2014 I have retained a connection to academia through my pedagogical practice and through attending postgraduate summer schools and masterclasses around the world (Bartlett UCL, AA, RMIT, Berlage TU Delft, FSA, Harvard, MIT, ETH).
My purpose as a mentor is really to make you feel confident in your ideas and empowered with the requisite skills that you no longer feel the need to seek out help and assistance. I typically advise students through the design projects, assisting them to achieve their full potential and attain the best possible grades. I also place focus on the emergence and formation of you as a designer, the ethos, branding, graphic identity (resume and portfolio) and professional image, in preparation for the competitive work industry.
I have a deep-rooted passion for teaching and learning, conveying of the complex role of the architect within contemporary society and inspiring the development of an original, provocative or independent mindset. I strongly believe in the importance of travel so aspiring architects have direct experience with architecture, cities and urbanism, building up a response to the world by finding out how buildings are made for other cultures and societies.
In addition, I have knowledge and experience of practically all architectural computer software (Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino 3D, SketchUp Pro, Microstation, Vectorworks, Vray, Enscape), I have advanced skills of physical model making and digital fabrication. I have experience working in professional model shops in Manchester and Vancouver and the digital fabrication labs at TU Delft and the Architectural Association in London.

Perfect! Andrew is a superb tutor, passionate about architecture and really friendly. He helped me to build up my portfolio, and together we did a great job, he also gave me a lot of advices and small hints about how to go through an interview and the everyday life as an architect, in order to build up a great career.
Perfect! Andrew is extremely talented in his field. In addition to this, he has a wonderful passion for teaching. He was able to assist me with a large variety of tasks, from BIM modelling, to portfolio layouts, to process work, as well as creating intricate physical models, not to mention how responsive and attentive he was to my project. I particularly admire that he did not impose his ideas, but instead taught me how to develop my own. I would recommend him to anyone looking for guidance with any kind of architectural assignment.
It was a wonderful experience collaborating with Selina over an 4 month period in 2019 on her second year architectural design thesis for an RIBA hub in Manchester that regenerated a formerly disused urban area to the south of Piccadilly station.
We experimented with the historical layers of contextual palimpsest to create a contemporary architectural intervention and integrate landscape proposal utilising multidisciplinary techniques including; hand sketching, physical modelling, digital computer modelling (Autocad, Sketchup,
Revit / BIM) visualisation (Enscape) and presentation (Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, illustrator, InDesign) to realise her vision.
It was an absolute pleasure to witness Selina steadily progressing and becoming empowered with her new skills and gaining confidence in her ideas. I am also incredibly proud of how Selina achieved the grades she aspired to and aimed towards throughout the course of the year and all her hard work really paid off.
Perfect! Excellent tutor, provided a lot of help for my studio projects. Andrew is incredibly passionate architect which has influenced me tremendously, and he offers help at all time, a super responsible teacher and great friend.
Since May 2018 I have been closely mentoring Kevin on his academic projects and portfolio through to the successful completion of the first year or his undergraduate degree at Manchester School of Architecture. During his first year Kevin developed a real passion for the subject of architecture and built an intimate relationship with the industrial urban context of Manchester. The MSA project briefs included a fruitful mix of experimental spatial concepts and formal pragmatism, exposing him to contextual analysis, diverse architectonic precedents, structural engineering and material science, and we have advanced his skills in hand drawing, physical modelling, 2D drafting and 3D computer modelling.
Perfect! Andrew is an extremely enthusiastic architect with multiple architectural knowledge. He ensures that I am on track with every submission for my design studio module and is always easy to reach if any questions arise. Our weekly lessons have been really beneficial for my final undergraduate year studying Interior Architecture, especially during my study trip in Manchester where we explored the city's architecture. He is certainly full of ideas and creativity, a definite recommendation to any student within the field of Architecture and the built environment.
Attia is a really wonderful student, very passionate, enthusiastic and motivated. We’re both excited to see her final architectural design thesis evolves and it feels really wonderful to share the experience I have of 10 years of architecture school. Most of our weekly classes are in Skype as were based in different cities but we also got to meet in person and do an architectural tour and found some potential sites for her project in Manchester.
