The lesson structure will be flexible to cater to individual student needs but the basic template will be as follows:
- A conversation with the student about what they want to work on - a specific skill or topic - prior to the session.
-Doing fully worked examples on this topic/ full explanation of topics with diagrammatic reasoning for visual learners. (Whiteboard.fi used to make work more interactive.)
-Giving the student an example to do independently/giving past paper questions/ asking them to explain the theory to me in their own words.
-Check through their work, outlining areas for improvement in layout and efficiency and managing difficult concepts in chunks which is proven to be more effective as a learning technique.
Learning is not about the answers - I don't mind if you get things wrong, in fact, I encourage it, so you have the potential to improve. I want to take my time for you to gain understanding.
I am a student in the UK with such a love for my subjects that I want to teach it to others in my spare time :). I am confident in my skills and in my ability to portray information to younger students who seek guidance.
Being a student myself, I'd be relatable and understanding to those I teach. I hope to make my subjects enjoyable to those who are struggling.
I have applied to the following universities for Psychology: Cambridge, Bath, UCL, Edinburgh, St Andrews.
Psychology is heavily reliant on maths and biochemistry skills to analyse data and neurochemical activity. It also allows me to understand how to correctly engage with students to make my teaching as effective as possible.
