Developed mainly around the Suzuki cello method, I use a mixture of technical exercises, scales and arpeggios and repertoire to follow the ABRSM grade system and the technical and expressive objectives of each grade. Students can choose to take exams or not, but the staged approach still allows students to measure their progress.
Teaching cello for over 20 year both privately and in schools as a visiting instrumental tutor in West Sussex.
Graduate of Royal Holloway, University of London with BMus (Hons). Qualified Teacher Status in UK with Enhanced DBS clearance. 100% pass rate with ABRSM graded performance exams.
Adults lessons are 1 hour irrespective of level (beginner, intermediate, advanced)
Lessons for children are 30 minutes long until grade 4 at which point 45 minutes is advised. Grade 6 and up require 60 minute lessons.
If theory is required as well (highly recommended unless having music theory tuition elsewhere), this adds 15 minutes duration to each lesson.
I've known Elizabeth for over a year (she was covering for few months, teaching A-Level Music at HSDC, last year). Our students got great results thanks to her input and contribution. Fantastic professionalist. Thoroughly recommended.
Elizabeth comes with a wealth of knowledge from music lessons on individual instrumental and also national curriculum. She has experience working on a 121 basis as well as groups and classroom. Her experience in schools range from preschool - A Level. I have worked alongside Elizabeth for many years now and could not reccomend anyone more inspirational, passionate and knowledgable in her field.
Elizabeth is a fantastic tutor, very friendly and helpful, with excellent subject knowledge. She is a great motivator, praising her pupils, showing them where and how they can improve on their skills and knowledge.
"I like Elizabeth because she let's you adjust to the pieces and techniques and she understands that it takes a while to improve and encourages and motivates me" V 10 years.
Elizabeth has been teaching my daughter for a number of years now. She is very friendly and welcoming, ensuring that each individual gets the most out the lesson. She is a patient tutor who uses a number of different techniques to motivate and encourage her students. My daughter loves going to her weekly lessons.
