I am a working musician, well qualified, friendly with a good sense of humour experienced in teaching at degree level in a variety of styles including Classical, Jazz and related improvisational styles. My approach is always to assess the student's needs and current knowledge and to go from there. I have well worked out progression paths in all I do. I aim to produce a complete musician with the knowledge to secure progression beyond their time with me.
I have taught all ages and abilities over a period of 4 decades and finished my career as the specialist guitar and theory tutor on a degree course at Hull College. I have taught well over 1000 students some of whom have entered the professional ranks both playing and teaching.
I prefer to work in half-hour slots for younger students but my expertise justifies the full rate for all levels.
