Singing is a beautiful way for us as humans to create music and share it with others without even thinking. That being said, having even a little bit of knowledge can help you create a powerful instrument that takes you from singing into your shampoo bottle, to singing into a microphone and understanding how you are doing it.
In my lessons, you will learn:
• Healthy vocal technique, which will be sustainable for both singing and speaking.
• How to look after and take care of your voice.
• How to think of your voice as an instrument you are completely in control of.
• Basic music theory, integrated into the learning of technique
• An understanding of repertoire and how to pick songs that not only suit you, but serve you.
Most of singing technique begins with getting out of you head and into your body as that is where your real voice live. I aim to get this voice out of everyone I teach.
“A lot of singing is you being inside your own head and slowly but surely we are working out way out!” - Aaron, Current Student of 9 months
I fell in love with music at a young age, but only discovered the joy of singing when I was 13 when I was handed the ‘Wicked’ soundtrack. From the moment I heard Idina Menzel belting out “Defying Gravity” I was determined to learn how it all happens.
Throughout school and most of my training I became obsessed with the mechanics of the human voice and studied it in my spare time. In that time I have become well versed in many techniques, ranging from a classical style to the more modern Estill method.
I am a graduate of the Chichester conservative where I gained a First Class BA(hons) degree in Musical Theatre (Triple Threat) and of Central School of Speech and Drama where I gained an MA in Music Theatre with Distinction. I have 4 years of professional training in musical theatre including some experience (approximately 1/3 of the time) in musical direction. I have taught people of different levels of singing, from professionals to absolute beginners.
