Professional Musician from the Royal College of Music Teaches Music Theory and Related Subjects

Methodology

I am a skilled educator, with experience and success with students of all ages and abilities. I approach my lessons as an opportunity to share the passion I have for music with everyone. I aim to create an individually styled lesson that finds the right balance of challenge and fun to match each student's needs.

Experience

I am a current student of the Royal College of Music set to graduate in July 2021. My first study is oboe, however my skills include music theory, music history, song writing, and more!

I have experience playing oboe in a wide variety of settings including orchestra, concert band, theatre and opera, studio recording, chamber groups, and solo performance - both in the USA and the UK.

I have studied oboe under Juliana Koch, Gareth Hulse, and Fabien Thouand. I bring my personal experience with different playing backgrounds and teaching styles to create a learning environment suitable for any student.

I have 5 years of teaching experience - both group teaching and 1-to-1. I have worked alongside the Royal College of Music doing outreach in nurseries, schools, and special needs education, have been awarded an ABRSM Teaching Diploma, and am studying Creative Education with Dr. David Camlin.

I take a holistic and adaptable approach to lessons - working with the student's specific interests and skill level to create an inspiring and engaging learning environment. I believe very passionately that music is for everyone, regardless of age or experience and I work hard to create a setting that balances challenge and fun.

I look forward to working with your goals and helping you to improve your musicality and technical skills.

At the Royal College of Music, Sadie studies under Gareth Hulse, Juliana Koch, and Fabian Thouand on modern oboe and under Gail Hennessy on baroque oboe. Since coming to London in 2017 she has performed in many concerts both within the RCM and externally. At the RCM she has performed with the RCM Baroque Orchestra, RCM Philharmonic, RCM Opera Orchestra, RCM Wind Ensemble, the RCM Film Orchestra, and as a chorus member with RCM Symphony Orchestra. She has performed with the London Shostakovich Orchestra, London City Orchestra, and as a chorus member with Philharmonia Orchestra. She has been conducted by many esteemed musicians such as Simon Channing, Michael Rosewell, Jac van Steen, Martin Brabbins and Esa Pekka-Salonen. Sadie has performed in many settings internationally, most notably in London at both the RCM and the Royal Festival Hall, and in Paris at the Basilica Saint-Denis.

Sadie takes pride in sharing her love of music with others and has participated in many outreach and educational programs for young musicians both in the United States and the U.K. In 2017-18 she worked with composer Charlotte Harding as part of the CONVO project commissioned by the Tri-borough Music Hub, the Royal Albert Hall and the Royal College of Music. This work debuted at the Royal Albert Hall in March of 2019.
