I tailor my lessons to the goals and interests of each student whilst always making lessons fun, engaging and enjoyable. I aim to foster a love for playing music and encourage self expression whilst providing a encouraging and supportive learning environment.
I enjoy preparing students for ABRSM and Trinity exams (in which my students have achieved very good results), recitals, school assessments and teaching those learning just for fun. Help with preparing for performances, school music, auditions, school assessments and music theory is also available.
To complement my teaching I am a qualified BodyMinded Practitioner, helping to enhance a student’s playing using elements of the Alexander Technique and Body Mapping.
All ages from 7 years up to adult students are welcome.
I have 15 years of teaching and outreach experience both in the UK and Australia with many of my students winning awards, competitions and scholarships to secondary schools and universities.
I am a professional orchestral flautist and have played with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra of the English National Ballet, the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra (Sydney Opera House), Sydney Symphony Orchestra (Sydney Opera House), Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, Southbank Sinfonia, Covent Garden Soloists Orchestra, the Hong Kong Sinfonietta and the Macao Orchestra.
I recently returned to London from Australia where I taught both school-aged and university students at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, the Australian Institute of Music, where I was the Academic (flute) Lecturer. I have taught in both state and private school settings in both Australia and the UK.
In 2015, I was made a fellow of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Prior to this, I studied at the Royal College of Music on a scholarship and received the All Flutes Plus prize. I have an AMusA (Distinction) from the Australian Music Examinations Board, a BMus in Performance from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and a MMus in Advanced Performance (Distinction) from the Royal College of Music.
I have an enhanced DBS and am CPR and First Aid trained. I am also a member of the British Flute Society and the Musicians Union (with full public liability insurance).
