The way I teach will totally depend on you, and what and how you would like to learn. If you are a student pressed with an upcoming deadline, we can work together through you portfolio to give you the best shot at getting that coveted university placement. For shorter or one-off lessons we can dive straight into painting and drawing, where we will explore your creative process and I can introduce new techniques to help you produce the art you aspire to make. Whereas, should you be looking for regular sessions then we can work together to create a structured teaching plan spanning any number of weeks to build up your skills, knowledge and process to achieve your artistic goals.
I am a photorealist specialist, however i can also teach the techniques needed for abstract, realist and impressionist painting in oils and acrylic. Furthermore, there is absolutely no limit to the subject matter we can tackle together - it’s all up to you :)
Here’s just a small summary of what you can learn with me:
- Techniques for traditional landscape and portrait painting
- Impressionist techniques and methodologies
- Photorealist techniques (requires previous painting experience)
- Portfolio preparation help and advice
- Explanation of the multitude of different paintbrush types and how to use them
- How to properly build and prepare a canvas for painting
- Techniques to help with accurate colour matching (vital for photorealism)
- Art history, critical theory and contemporary art theory
- I can offer technical and conceptual critiques of any existing work, should you wish.
Whatever we learn together, rest assured it will be relaxed and informative.
I am a professional photorealist oil painter with years of experience working as a painting assistant to Damien Hirst in London and Martin Eder in Berlin after graduating in 2014 from Camberwell, UAL, with a First Class Honours in Painting. Previously I studied Art, Philosophy and English Literature at A-Level, and was awarded an 'A' grade for each.
I will be beginning a MFA in Contemporary Art Theory come September 2019.
Perfect! My lessons with Rebecca have been inspired. Rebecca holds her immense knowledge lightly, guiding, supporting and educating with relevant information that moves my art to levels I could only dream of. I would highly recommend Rebecca, she knows her stuff!
Perfect! Rebecca is super efficient, always on time, great with detail and knowledge of the mechanics of painting. Always gives full detailed reports of the lessons. She has a gentle nature and manages to get the most out of our child's abilities. She is very motivated and well planned bringing new material and enthusiasm to each session.
