Do you love singing and would like to sharpen your vocal prowess? Are you part of a band or choir and keen to seriously develop your talents?
I’m Vicky Harrison, a singer and vocal technique coach offering private one-to-one voice lessons that enable my students to shine! I’m based in Cambridgeshire, UK and have over 20 years of experience singing professionally and 10 years of experience as a professional Vocal Coach. I also teach at Cambridge Visual and Performing Arts College. I’m here to show you the ropes and take your skills further and I can work with any style including all pop styles, musical theatre and rock.
Along with a diploma in Pop Music and a degree in Creative Music, Sound and Technology, I have worked for over a decade in the music industry with placements on television with Love Island, Made in Chelsea, X factor and many more. I have more than 15 years performance and touring experience - supported The Mystery Jets and Katy B and have releases with record labels (Voga Parochia, WIAWYA, FIka Records, Hospital Records, HILO LOHI Records).
As a vocal coach, I focus on breathing techniques e (support), modes and effects. Through our sessions, you will learn to modulate your voice, pace yourself, learn more about rhythm, and gradually develop your personal style. I will also assess what inhibits you from singing to your full potential, and in turn – free your voice.
I will work with you physiologically as well as psychologically. As humans, our aptitude for learning along with confidence varies. So, if you are apprehensive about performing on stage in front of an audience, I can help with performance anxiety. Or if you are struggling with a certain aspect of the voice, like a break in the voice because you can’t sustain a range; then I will guide you to sing using a healthy technique to reach your full potential.
A breakdown of what you can expect to learn in our sessions together includes:
* Solving all your vocal issues - including a hoarse voice
* Vocal Modes
* Vocal Effects (e.g. Vibrato, Creak, Growl, etc.)
* All elements of breathing
* Stamina and control
* Finding your individual voice
* Building your range
* Stage presence and confidence
* Working with performance anxiety
* Pronunciation, articulation, and diction
...and much much more!
I design my lessons to be engaging and empowering and provide plenty of room and opportunities to help you find your individual voice and nail your style. My lessons are always customised based on what you want to achieve and where you want your talent and voice to take you. The singing voice is so subjective, and everyone has a different favourite singer and songs – as I support you to free your voice, it is with respect to your singing tastes. I advocate diversity and My goal is solely to assist in making the choices that feel right for the singer. I believe that all sounds can be produced healthily and that there are no inferior sounds. Moreover, I’m friendly, inspiring, and offer a warm and stimulating environment that propels you towards favourable outcomes. My approach is never rigid and I encourage discussions, powerful exercises, and tasks to help you go further than you dreamed of.
You can rest assured that I will always work in your best interests and I am passionate about the voice. I make certain that I stay updated with the latest pedagogy and scientific information and I am currently studying a Masters in Vocal Technique in Copenhagen. I also love to work with the voice as a therapy for wellbeing.
Note on children's lessons: These are specifically designed for the younger voice and the age range is from 8-14 years. Lessons can be online or face-to-face and include a range of MP3 exercises, handouts and creative tasks for understanding the voice. If you are taking lessons online then these will be sent through the post. I make sure to design fun and interactive lessons that sustain interest so my students have an enjoyable experience and look forward to the next one.
I offer a free taster session for us to get to know each other and for me to understand your goals. I would love the opportunity to teach you or your child singing lessons. To discover more or if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
"I started singing lessons with Vicky to help me overcome a fear of public speaking and my first lesson, I was terrified. Vicky was amazing, very supportive and made me feel at ease quickly. Over the course of a few months I progressed into someone who not only got over her fear of public speaking but into someone who realized she loves to sing – and that’s all down to Vicky’s style. She is very experienced and knowledgeable and mixes technical knowledge and teaching/instruction with practice and makes it all fun and relaxing. Would 100% recommend singing with Vicky!"

"Vicky is my daughter's singing teacher. I really like that she gives a holistic understanding of how to work with the voice tailored for my daughters age (10 yrs). My daughter says about her: "amazing, amazing, amazing! she is the best teacher in the whole world, actually no, UNIVERSE! I really recommend her. If you want a person that is really kind, that always makes everything fun and when things are hard she helps you, then Vicky is the one. P.S. She has a wonderful voice!". That says it all."

"Although I started to learn pop singing in CSVPA this year, I'm very glad that I met a teacher who has a sense of responsibility and can teach me singing very well. It's my honor. I think Vicky is not only my teacher, but also my friend. In class, I can learn the skills I want. After class, we often discuss music originality and singing. In addition, I think I have learned a lot of basics, such as how to use breath correctly, how to make sounds in different positions of the body, which is very helpful for me. I have changed a lot of bad habits when singing. At the same time, I also learned the singing method of Curbing (mode). Before, I didn't have much power to sing, but now I can use Curbing very well to support my high voice. Vicky is a very good vocal tutor. Although it's in the online course now, she is very patient with me. I hope we can sing a lot of songs together in the future. It's going to end soon. I'm not often reluctant, this will be the warmest memory in my life.Thank you Vicky.

Vicky is a fab teacher, she has a stunning personality, is loving and warm, can work with any level of singer and has invested in her skills and training along side years of experience - i would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone wanting to explore and develop their voice.

"Since starting with Vicky I have not only developed more than I thought possible with my music and vocals, but also my own personal journey. Vicky has listened to my worries on a professional and also personal level with an open minded attitude. I've never felt judged or ridiculed and our sessions have become my outlet and the 'me time' I've so desperately needed, being a single mum.
What I love about how Vicky works, is that she has taken the time to get to know how I tick, and tailored the lessons based on my own personal learning technique (one which I wasn't aware of myself until now) There is no 'one size fits all' type attitude which has been an issue for me in the past. I have learning difficulties due to being dyslexic and having ADHD, and her patience with my tendency to become distracted appears endless!
Vicky's holistic approach to the development of my vocals and music in general has bought me to a stage where the future looks brighter than I ever could have believed a year ago. Her belief in me became my belief in me and I'm so glad I found such a diverse and fun tutor who I can trust fully to give me the best chance of success"

"Vicky has really helped me as a singer to develop my skills, and to better myself as a musician. She gave me exactly what I wanted and aimed for in every single lesson. Also, by using helpful techniques that she guided me through during the year, I have over come some major pitching problems. I’ve also learnt how to have better breath support. Over all Im really satisfied and happy with what i’ve learnt in my lessons with Vicky"

Perfect! Vicky is absolutely brilliant. My daughter absolutely loves her singing lessons with her. She has so much fun whilst improving and learning so much about how to sing in different ways. The positive nature of the lessons has brought more confidence to her singing and how she uses her voice.
What a lovely singer Florence is. She has a lovely tone already and some great pitching. She picks up new technique very quickly, and I’m very excited to work with her again. She can now work on exploring new vocal modes and strengthening her support and confidence. Fantastic work Florence!
Perfect! Very thorough and clear - we were able to go through things in great depth in a way that was easily understandable. I really connected with the style of teaching and was able to feel secure enough to try things that were completely new to me. Incredibly helpful and would definitely recommend.
A great lesson with Naomi, who is already a strong singer in the vocal mode Neutral. Naomi can now build her range in Neutral is she so wishes. She can also explore new modes if she would like to. Great working with you Naomi, and i hope we can work together again soon. Vicky
Vicky is a fantastic vocal coach. She is great at explaining and demonstrating intricate technique - I made progress immediately. She really helps me get in touch with different parts of my voice, and knows how to guide me and provide key insights when I’m finding it difficult. I love that the lessons are tailored to my wants and needs, and that she can react to any problem I have. She also provides very useful exercises which will help me train my voice long term. She is clearly an expert and her method is very effective. Furthermore, Vicky is not just a teacher but also a great mentor: she is very supportive, kind and fun. I have a great time during lessons and honestly can’t recommend her enough, especially to students who might be a bit nervous. And of course she’s a wonderful singer!
I was recommended Vicky by a friend over a year ago. I really wanted to explore some Pop and Rock singing with my voice. As i am not someone who is super confident, Vicky was excellent in helping me connect with volume and projection. I couldn't recommend Vicky enough. After working with her for over a year now i've overcome so many fears. I've built stamina and control, and i've even begun to have a go at effects such as vibrato and distortion!! I can't thank Vicky enough.
Just had a successful lesson with Vicky! As a music producer I've known how to roughly sing in tune but never used my own voice due to lack of control and disliking the sound of my voice. Vicky has now put a stop to that and helped me embrace my voice! She took time to go into detail about how my lungs and throat work and the different sounds and tones I can achieve, with what I have. She gave me a lot of great visuals to help me position my face and body to reach what sound I want. She has really boosted my confidence and I will now be recording my own vocals confidently, with all the techniques and support I have received from Vicky!
Vicky was great at making me feel comfortable when being out of my comfort zone! I felt quick improvements from my first lesson and her encouragement as to what I brought to the lesson was really appreciated! I am a complete beginner but love singing so want to explore how I can use my voice
Vicky is an amazing teacher who has helped me find myself as a musician and has taught me so many new things about my voice that I would have never known if it wasn’t for her!
