I am a friendly trombone/brass and piano teacher living in West London.
As a musician, I see my teaching and performing as a privilege and a responsibility to enthuse, nurture and develop music making and technical development of students. I am personable, enthusiastic, organised and reliable and enjoy managing many roles within my varied work and life. I strive to make sure every student is inspired and enjoys the learning process, instilling a lifelong holistic love of music and music making that is independent, curious and resourceful. I am an excellent communicator and enjoy the work of being in contact with pupils and parents. As well as creating an excellent teaching environment with good planning, I feel that good communication and trust is extremely important; providing regular feedback to students is just part of the portfolio of skill that I feel make me an excellent teacher.
- How much do you charge?
I charge £40 per hour or £30 for half an hour for lessons locally. For lessons outside of this area, an additional charge will be added to cover travel expenses.
- Where do you teach?
I live in Brentford but I tend to travel to students' houses for lessons. The areas I cover are Central London, Ealing, Kew, Richmond, Brentford, Isleworth, Brent, Hammersmith and Fulham, Hillingdon, Hounslow.
Other areas are possible but may incur additional charges so please do enquire.
- When are you available?
As a freelance musician, my timetable is very flexible and I am sure we can find a time suitable for both of us.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
In my opinion, exams are not the sole purpose for learning a musical instrument. Although it can be useful to track your progress, I aim to develop my students into well rounded musicians. However, I have experience in the following:
Trinity Guildhall Grades
A level Exams
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have taught privately since the age of 17, covering a wide range of different abilities and age ranges. Alongside my private teaching, I am currently a brass tutor for Brent Music Service and a piano tutor for Northbridge House Senior School & Sixthform.
I also have vast experience in performance, having played with the UK's leading orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra and BBC Concert Orchestra.
Currently with Brent Music Service, I have 26 students on trombone, trumpet, baritone, euphonium or tuba. These students range from complete beginner through to grade 7, receiving 30 minute lessons either individually or in groups.
At Northbridge House Senior School & Sixthform, I have 4 piano students working between beginner and grade 5. They receive 30 minute lessons per week.
My students currently have a 100% pass rate with their ABRSM and Trinity Guildhall exams.
