I take the improvement of my students very seriously and take great care to tailor my lessons to the different ambitions and goals of each student, whether that be a desire for a career in music or to play the violin as a hobby. I draw on my experience to find something that will interest and inspire the student to make the most of their lessons and practice time.
During my studies at the Royal College of Music (BMus and PGDip) I had the opportunity to perform in many projects, both symphony orchestra concerts and operas. Repertoire and conductors included; Rossini’s La Gazzetta conducted by Michael Rosewell, Berlioz’ Symphonie Fantastique, Brahms’ Symphony no. 4, Haydn’s Symphony no. 43 and Mozart’s Piano Concerto no. 21 under the direction of Sir Roger Norrington, Mahler’s Symphony no. 7 with Bernard Haitink and Debussy’s La Mer with Vladimir Ashkenazy. External projects while I was a student and since leaving have included leading the Woodhouse Opera Festival Orchestra performing Verdi’s Falstaff conducted by Marcio da Silva, and performing with Arch Sinfonia conducted by Chloe Van Soeterstède and Les Fauristes conducted by Blandine de Raulin and a chamber arrangement of Rossini’s The Barber of Seville produced by Regent’s Opera and directed from the keyboard by David Eaton.
My teaching career began nine years ago. I have taught for six years in England and three years in France; privately, employed by J and C Education and on a self-employed basis with Enfield Council Music Service, Fireworks Music School and London Star Music School. My students have included children from both primary and secondary schools - I am experienced in teaching beginners and preparing students for ABRSM exams (for which last year all of my students achieved distinction), but I am also able to teach a large repertoire for advanced students, from Bach to contemporary composers, due to my own studies and experience as a concert violinist. Prior to my teaching career in England, I had the opportunity to assist my former violin and chamber music teachers in the Toulouse Conservatoire in one-to-one lessons and small ensemble workshops. As well as studying as a violinist at Toulouse Conservatoire and the Royal College of Music, I have taken modules to enrich my musical studies. I took a Professional Skills module in Teaching and Outreach which consisted of me giving one-to-one violin lessons as well as classroom workshops. I have also studied conducting and have a diploma in ‘formation musicale’ (solfège) from the Toulouse Conservatoire. I particularly enjoyed studying electro-acoustic music with Michael Oliva at the Royal College of Music. This course comprised ‘musique concrète’ composition using Logic Pro X and Protools software. I have always thought that new perspectives brought by new technologies and software can help young students to explore their musical creativity and awaken an interest in new artistic and musical currents.

Thoroughly enjoyed my lessons with Paul. He made learning the violin really fun and helped me progress quicker than I thought I could. Would have no hesitation in recommending him.
Paul is a wonderful teacher - thorough, patient and easy to understand. It is also brilliant to have a music teacher who can play and demonstrate - I am always so pleased to be able to see him in concerts. Highly recommend!!
