My teaching style is to tailor lessons to fit your objectives and ways of learning. (e.g. verbal content for listening style of learning, diagrams for people that are more visual). I will also base lessons around helpful studying tips and help with exams/course work.
My methodology is drawn primarily from my time managing projects, teaching English and surf coaching. This is to say that I have a personable manner and place a great emphasis on my student's learning style and personal confidence. I often focus on breaking big problems down to their component parts/concepts to expand your skills and self-sufficiency.
I am an experienced 'English as a Foreign Language teacher' and am currently formalising this with a TEFL qualification. This academic study gives me a lot of opportunity reflect upon my own methodology.
I am a History with Philosophy graduate and a qualified Project Manager. On a weekend I teach English as a second language and previously spent 3 months teaching in Primary education in Malawi (Southern Africa).
I have a 2:1 BA History with Philosophy degree, and received the Wedgewood Award for University of Keele's Highest marked Humanities dissertation with a mark of 83%. Areas of specialty include but are not limited to the political and economic workings of the British Empire in the 20th Century, and the philosophies of Descartes.
I also have practical teaching experience as a surf coach for the Wave Project and as a workplace mentor. Additionally over the last 5 years I have directly managed over 20 staff and taken great joy from helping many of these make ambitious leaps in their development and career.
I currently work as Portfolio Manager in the Civil Service working with the government's EU Exit Programme.
