I prefer to discus the needs and wants of each student in the first lesson. When their aims, targets and areas for improvement have been identified we work together to make a lesson plan for the short, medium and long term.
I use short starter tasks to remind the student of last lesson or introduce the topic. The main focus of the lesson could be a practice exam question, a model answer or recap of a skill they have been struggling with. The lesson will end with a summary of what we have covered, an opportunity for any questions/feedback and then a quick overview of what we will cover in the next session.
I am a current psychology student at the University of Bristol. I have previous experience tutoring dozens of Year 11s student in their English GCSEs (both Language and Literature). I have also worked with younger children in school setting on reading and writing skills.
I have an enhanced DBS check and have recently completed extensive safeguarding training for a volunteer role with children.
