I teach Key Stage 3 level maths as well as GCSE level to all students willing to learn. I believe once maths is understood, it can easily become enjoyable and its never too hard for you to "get it". Not everyone can be taught in the same mannor, some understand the theory as soon as it is explained, others need more aid or a different means of explanation. As a result, each lesson is tailored to suit the student's capabilities and understanding.
I am a psychology student in my second year at the Univerisity of Hertfordshire. I have tutored almost 20 students in the past year and I am still tutoring some. All of my students have improved in terms of their confidence and also their grades. I have seen some jump up 2-3 grades, others gain the ability to understand the questions. One student, in particular, was working at a level 2 when I first started teaching her, and by the time we had finished tuition she was working at a level 5 and had been moved from foundation level to higher level. I am currently teaching a range of students, from KS3 to GCSE students (some of which are year 11 and others are adult learners trying to earn their GCSE qualification).
Before becoming an official tutor, I taught Spanish in my local primary school biweekly, I have also volunteered at a nursery for a short amount of time. On top of that, I study psychology so I have studied different methods in which the brain learns and retains information and I apply those methods in my teaching.
I have worked with students who have diagnosed mental health conditions, others who are not diagnosed but present symptoms, and students with other learning difficulties. With each student I teach, I ensure the lesson is as comfortable for them as possible to ensure effective learning during the time we have.
Cancellations made with only an hour left until the lesson begins, will be charged at £2.50.
2016- Nursery Assistant
For a week I worked in a nursery. The role included helping the children with cognitive development (speaking and counting), sensory development (touching/seeing/smelling/ different objects, tasting different foods and hearing different sounds) and emotional development (interaction with other children and the environment they were in).
2016-2017- Spanish Teacher
I taught Spanish to primary school children at the local school near my sixth form every other week. I had to organise lesson plans, assess the children’s progress and report back to my CAS supervisor.
