As an experienced and fully qualified teacher, I tailor my lessons to each learner's individual needs. I offer a free, initial thirty minute lesson to chat through your particular requirements and to find out more about your child's level of French, experience, interests and preferred learning styles. I also work with adults for one to one or bespoke, small group lessons. My aim is that pupils, whatever their age, really enjoy their lessons, make good progress and achieve their goals. I work across the Primary phase and am also qualified to teach at GCSE and A level. I would be delighted to chat in more detail about your specific requirements - do get in touch!
I am a qualified and experienced teacher of French, with a BA(Hons) in Modern Foreign Languages (French and German) and a PGCE in Secondary Modern Languages. I have also undertaken additional training in Primary French methodology with La Jolie Ronde. I have taught French in both the state and independent sectors for over fifteen years, receiving excellent feedback in OFSTED and Independent inspections. I am passionate about my subject and my lessons are fun and effective.
I worked on the Devon County Working Party for Primary Modern Languages and headed up the Primary Modern Languages Department in a large Devon primary school. I have a strong professional track record and am able to offer excellent testimonials from parents of former pupils.
My French is fluent and I have lived and worked in France.
I am married with two grown up children, a dog, a tortoise and a nineteen year old rescue cat. In my spare time, I enjoy skiing, outdoor pursuits and French cinema and literature.
My standard rate for one to one, online tuition is £25 for a sixty minute lesson. For small groups, I charge my standard rate of £25 for a sixty minute lesson, plus £10 for each additional learner. In-person tuition in your own home or workplace may also be available, with an additional charge for travelling time.
I have known Emma for a very long time. I am myself a French person from Bordeaux and I met Emma who was teaching French at Tidcombe primary school. I was keen for my children to improve their French and I had no hesitation when I was introduce to Emma. Emma is very passionate about teaching in general and French in particular and I felt she was someone who genuinely loved her job. I also got the opportunity to work alongside Emma teaching French at Tidcombe and Two Moors primary schools and was taken by her passion and how she made learning French so much fun for the children. I strongly recommend Emma to anyone and you couldn’t ask for a better teacher.
Emma tutored me for French up to GCSE. She is a brilliant teacher and I made excellent progress with her. I would highly recommend Emma.
I have known Emma for many years and can recommend her to you as an excellent French tutor. She always adapts her lessons to suit her students’ needs and is a very fluent French speaker. She is also friendly and patient and you will make excellent progress with her.
Emma taught me for 2 years and she’s hands down the best teacher I’ve ever had. She’s incredibly approachable and patient, and is always willing to go above and beyond to make the class interesting and engaging. My french improved so much with her help, and thanks to her I feel so much more confident and capable now. I would definitely recommend learning French with Emma.
