I am a great believer in learning and sensing when your voice is completely free. It is only then when you have found your voice unique only to you. This is recognised by its beauty, flexibility, honesty and growth in size. The ability to sing in tune with clarity, and purity of tone with different qualities (like painting a picture) is now possible and dynamics are also more in control that is soft, louder, etc. One is able to take on many styles of singing and perform well once the voice has been awakened. This is true bel canto (Italian technique).
However my last and most wonderful teacher is Glenys Linos (who was taught by Elvira de Hidalgo (Spanish soprano) who also taught the great 20th century soprano, Maria Callas). I have also worked with Diana Jacklin who has regular coaching with Glenys Linos and also regularly performs internationally.
Together with Glenys Linos and Diana Jacklin, I believe this dying Italian technique which first came to the fore in the 16th and 17th centuries must be revived.
My repertoire is extensive and I have given numerous cathedral recitals throughout the UK and sing in German, English, French, and Italian in the styles of opera, oratorio, folksong and melodies and lied to the popular songs sung by Frank Sinatra etc.
Many singers imitate their idols and consequently start to have problems with their own voices. We are all unique having had different experiences and are of different ages and appearances. It is logical to sing with your own gift. I can guarantee you will truly enjoy your lessons as we both discover your true voice once the correct muscles come into play.
I have learnt from the best singers in this technique (international) and am delighted that I will be able to share this knowledge with you and support you in your singing.
In 2017 I travelled twice to Austria to partake in two international singing refresher courses where I enhanced on both my singing and teaching skills.
In summary my skills cover piano teaching, freeing the singing voice with specific exercises and explanations why the exercises have been selective. I am happy to coaching, work on improvisation, pronunciation of languages, teach how to sing with consonants and vowels and work on affirmations as singers need to address any issues to sing untroubled.
Yes, I understand cost of petrol and maintenance of the running of a car and so this will be taken into consideration as the student will be travelling to my home.
I studied at the Royal College of Music on the Performers Course where I gained my Diploma in singing and have worked with Audrey Langford and Harold Miller (known for working with vocalists in the West End many years ago) amongst many others.
There I won the French prize for singing and later an aware from the Oppenheim Downes trust in Lewisham, London.
I began singing at an early age entering festivals from 11 years old and entered and passed my Grade 8 in singing before college. I attended parttime Guildhall School of Music and Drama and Trinity College of Music before attending full time the Performers Course at the RCM. The performers course was 4 years and in that time I continued to study Piano.
I have sung in numerous cathedrals and churches and my repertoire is extensive covering works by composers, Gershwin, Mozart, Bach, Brahms, Benjamin Britten, Faure, Duparc, Debussy, Puccini, Verdi.
SInce leaving college I commenced teaching and over the years have become more experienced and recently taught children with special needs. I enjoy teaching piano all ages but as regards singing, my preference is teaching from 17 years of age upwards.
She has a genuine love of teaching music and helping her students reach their full potential.
Sian. Has been my voice coach for 5years, she is totally professional. As well as being serious she can make the lessons fun. I highly recommend her.
I have been having singing tuition from Sian for almost 2 years. I hadn't met her before I started having lessons, but she was instantly very pleasant company and very friendly.
Tuition from Sian has helped me build my confidence immensely. Sian is, patient and encouraging and hugely skillful. Her techniques work and they have helped me improve my voice immeasurably.
She is comfortable teaching all ages and a range of styles. I would consider her a friend now and I continue to enjoy my lessons a lot. I would recommend her to anyone wanting to build confidence, technique or skill at singing.
