I reached out to Barbara as I was struggling with my English Language A-Level. I performed really poorly in my exams at AS Level and I became pretty desperate to find someone who was able to teach English Language at a high level, in a very professional but patient manner. Barbara stepped and with her support and guidance, I was able to get an A in my English Language A-Level and more importantly - I was accepted onto the University course of my choice: University of Exeter to study English Literature BA. She was amazing - well prepared, flexible with times, and she was always willing to meet me at a place most convenient for me.

Barbara is an outstanding tutor. I reached out to her, to help tutoring my 9-year old son. He is a bright spark but he has a lot of energy and he finds it really hard to concentrate for long in class. I reached out to Barbara to tutor him in English and French, and she was fantastic. She brought French language games for him, she gave him interesting English puzzles - as the conventional way of forcing him to sit down and read continuously for hours really doesn't work with him.
I really appreciate how she tailored her classes to suit his level of understanding, and he was able to creatively combine his energy with her French and English grammar games, to get better in class! Barbara really took a genuine interest in guiding and helping him, and she still comes in to tutor him regularly.

Barbara is currently teaching me English Language AS Level. I really struggled this winter to get decent grades in class tests in college, and I reached out to her just before Christmas. Have been having classes since this new year and she has been an ongoing supportive tutor - available when I need her, even on a last minute basis. Great tutor for English, and I am enjoying our evening tuition classes.

I engaged Barbara to support my daughter during her English GCSEs. My daughter particularly struggled with the English Literature side: interpreting poetry and long-form prose, and writing about it in a critical way. She was really struggling getting grades beyond a C but with Barbara's support she achieved an A in English. The support was invaluable and our daughter managed to get into the sixth form college of her choice. As a parent, I constantly worry if I'm spending too much on someone who is not very strong or supportive. I highly recommend Barbara - she was reliable, she always came to our home well prepared and her knowledge and expertise in respect to English Literature is amazing.

Barbara has been an incredible mentor and tutor; sharing her expertise and encouraging my daughter, who is she preparing to sit her A level English Language examination.

Barbara has been tutoring English to my son for close to two years. My son has a learning disability and I needed someone who was patient and experienced in dealing with children with complex learning needs. My son is now 12 years old and Barbara has been tutoring him for close to two years. I really appreciate how patient and helpful she is, and how she makes her lessons very interactive for someone like him who is very smart - but just needs a bit of extra support at home, and at school. I recommend her if you are seeking someone to assist children and teenagers with educational special needs.

Barbara is a very talented, well-spoken and professional English tutor who connected immediately with my 10 yo daughter thanks to her warm and adaptable personality. Her lessons were always very well prepared and she was able to come up with lots of different exercises to practice some of the challenging aspects of the 11+ English curriculum.
Always upbeat and smiling, yet very focused and results oriented, she was able to instill confidence in my daughter (for whom English is a second language). I particularly appreciated her prompt feedback post-sessions where she would keep me up to speed with respect to progress.
In conclusion, I only have high praises for Barbara and cannot thank her enough for all she has done for my daughter. I would definitely hire her back if my daughter, or her older 13 yo sister were ever in need of a little extra assistance in the years to come.
I have always been sceptical about tuition, but contacting Barbara was the best decision I made during exam season. She replied swiftly, asking for all the relevant information in order for her to help as soon as possible. My only regret was that I wish I had contacted her earlier in the year and had more time to work with her.
The great thing about Barbara was that she was not merely someone to help with essays (which is the area that I struggled the most with) but also helped me with my confidence - which is one of the most essential things when approaching exams.
Barbara also goes beyond what she has to do by supplying extra reading and areas to consider.
I would highly recommend her! She helped me so much, and should you choose her I am confident she will help you too!
