My lessons have a friendly but structured approach, allowing my students to learn key topics before moving onto freer practice using their own creativity. My teaching is fuelled by humour, games, technology, videos, and a variety of interesting texts. I want all of my lessons to be engaging for the students, and it is my empathy and attentiveness that enables my students to exceed their expectations.
I am an English specialist with over a year's experience of teaching English at GCSE level, as well as A Level and Functional Skills. I qualified with a PGCE in Further Education and Training, and also have a first-class degree in English as well as a Masters degree from the University of Bristol. I have taught young adults in an FE college setting as well as secondary school learners.

Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group (Newcastle Campus)
Lecturer of English
During my time working at NSCG, I taught English at Functional Skills Level 1, as well as the English GCSE programme (Edexcel GCSE 9-1 re-sits) and A-Level English Literature.
The college, situated in the Newcastle-under-Lyme area, is rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted and is among the top 10% of general FE colleges in the country. NSCG prides itself on consistently excellent A-Level, GCSE and vocational results and are the biggest provider of students to higher education in Staffordshire.
As a PGCE trainee teacher I was assessed as a grade 1 ‘outstanding’ practitioner on completion of my teaching practice at NSCG and earned a Distinction in my PGCE in Further Education and Training overall.
I flourished while undertaking the full teaching role, planning lesson plans and innovative materials, marking and monitoring student progress, writing student reports, developing assessment materials and working on a one-to-one basis with students to ensure continuous development. I also sought to quality enhance courses by developing improved resources and practice as an outcome of student feedback, for example by creating module handbooks to assist revision. Due to the nature of teaching English at different levels and pitching to different abilities, including teaching students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), I have become an adaptable teacher who can differentiate my teaching practice towards the needs of individual learners.
