I believe the role of a teacher should be that of facilitator within the learning environment, rather than formal instructor. There should be a constant interaction with the learners, and the use of effective questioning should be employed in order to promote good understanding and mastering of the learning objectives.
I believe that all learners must be treated as individuals and should be supplied with a range of teaching materials which are interesting, relevant, stimulating and, most importantly suited to the students' preferences and learning styles. Teachers should always be sufficiently flexible to accommodate the needs of learners, constantly adjusting the learning objectives in order to ensure the learners can access the teaching materials and find them challenging and relevant.
I am a qualified teacher with a 20 year experience in ESOL, foreign languages and most subjects taught at KS1 and KS2 levels within Primary education.
My teaching qualifications include a PGCE (QTS status) from Cambridge University, a TESOL certificate from Trinity College London and a Further Education Certificate from City and Guilds. My degree studies have focused on the teaching and learning of languages and the core curriculum subjects taught at KS1-3 at Primary and Secondary level.
I have taught the full range of the school curriculum in Primary education, delivered language courses and taught one to one private lessons in adult education and an EFL university language school.
Finally, I have worked as an examiner and assessor in the language exams of IOL (Institute of Linguists) and OCR (ASSET languages).
