I have managed to achieve this by putting them at ease, relentessly focusing on their achievements. and building complex ideas from simple ones in a way that encourages deep understanding. An exampe of this., is teaching compound interests by going back to by checking that pupils fundamentally understand how to find percentage of amounts.
I am qulaified Maths teacher of 5 years who has been delivering one to one tutoring through out this specified period. My pupils have always grown in confidence and achieved or exceeded their GCSE target grades. They have now gone on to higher education with renewed hope and self belief that they can excel in a subject that they previously thought they could not.
I think my time working as a Teacher Trainee, a mathematics intervention mentor, a cover supervisor/supply teacher and an external exam invigilator in the past 3 years around different schools in the Greater Manchester area, makes me a suitable candidate for this position. I am very passionate about young people’s understanding of mathematics and science. I believe every pupil has the innate ability to access these subjects to their utmost potential as they possess the curiosity that makes learning in these disciplines possible and enjoyable. I have the sufficient subject knowledge in mathematics at the KS3 and KS4 levels and a strong will and determination, to help me bolster the above mentioned values. This means I can also work at KS2 levels, if the case may be. I also consider success in the arts and sporting endeavours to be vital in producing grounded and well rounded individuals. This experience also instilled a desire in me to continue to be a positive role model to young people by encouraging them to be the best that they can be and being a voice of reason and guidance, when at times they fail to live up to the expected protocol. I am comfortable working on my own and even more so working as part of a team. Cooperation and attainment are my watchwords. I have worked according to these ideals at different school environments during my teacher training over the two years by helping teachers out during lessons and attending whole school, departmental staff and parents-teachers meetings. No task is ever to great for when a young person’s education is at stake. I am also reliable and punctual, a result of my desire for young people to have the best education and attain their full social potential.
