From my years of teaching experience, I understand the demands on students from different exam boards. I base my teaching around my student’s course content and the specific needs of the student. I use my teaching experience to explain different grammatical concepts in an accessible way for students to understand. I use my experience of living in both Spain and France to explain their different traditions and cultures which I incorporate into my teaching. I am friendly and approachable, and I enjoy getting the best out of my students by creating engaging and challenging material in my lessons catered towards the students’ needs.
I have experience teaching in a range of schools including independent, grammar and state schools as well as private tutoring experience. I spent my year abroad working as a teaching assistant and tutored in my spare time. From 2016 - 2019 I taught at one of Northern Ireland's top Grammar Schools where I have had a 100% pass rate with my students with a high proportion achieving A/A* at both GCSE and A Level. In Oxford I have experience teaching in both independent schools and state schools. Using my breadth of experience, I adapt my teaching according to my students’ abilities and preferences.
I have a strong academic record, achieving 3A at A Level in French, Spanish and Mathematics. I completed my degree in Modern Languages French and Spanish at Newcastle University and then went on to complete my PGCE at Queen’s University Belfast.
Perfect! Rachel made the lesson really fun. My daughter said she learned loads.
