My teaching methods vary depending on the subject/content being taught and the child I am working with. I use a combination of formative assessment and summative assessment to determine the learning needs of a child and the methods which will best help that child to progress.
Rather than expecting children to memorise through rote learning, I encourage them to implement strategies to enable them to problem solve and to self-identify when they need help and how to tackle a problem. For example, in Maths I focus on strengthening a child's fluency in number facts and how to implement this when answering problems. In Reading, how to decode/find the definition of a word to enable comprehension of a text. In Writing, strengthening SPaG skills, implementing them into written work and making use of resources and strategies to edit and improve written work.
I am a qualified primary school teacher. I have been working in schools since 2015 in various roles: teaching assistant, higher level TA, learning support assistant, supply teacher and most recently as a class teacher.
I graduated with a BA Hons in History in 2014.
