I am caring, supportive and positive. My enthusiasm for education often transfers well during teaching, allowing children to develop a thirst for learning through engaging in asking questions. I understand that each child is unique and all require a secure, caring and stimulating atmosphere, and I can help children to meet their potential through an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites a sharing of ideas.
I cater for different learning styles within my teaching through a mixed learning approach in which I use various methods to help all learners – this includes the use of visual resources and learning through a hands-on approach. I always ensure that my lessons include varied activities promoting creativity in order to maintain pupils’ engagement and curiosity for learning. Simultaneously, I ensure that high expectations are set and pupils’ learning is stretched accordingly to achieve these expectations. To begin with, there will be a thorough introductory discussion regarding the child’s needs and preferred learning styles, to ensure that the child's needs are met along the way.
I recently gained my PGCE from the University of Nottingham and am currently supply teaching across various state and independent schools in Nottingham. Prior to my teacher training, I completed a degree in Comparative Literature at Queen Mary University of London. As part of my teacher training I was given the opportunity to work with children on a one-to-one basis, which showed me the benefits of individualised learning. Alongside tutoring, I have taught in primary schools over the last two years; this experience across schools and age ranges has provided me with an in-depth knowledge of the National Curriculum requirements at all primary age levels. As well as this, my subject knowledge is regularly kept up to date and I have sufficient experience of planning and delivering lessons.
