Work Experience
Creative Support
I provide one to one and small group sessions in IT, English and Maths. I assess their learning requirements and source and/or create relevant learning materials. For the first few years the service was a Learn direct centre and I mainly worked providing Learn direct courses but have since worked more on providing a bespoke personal service which better suits our range of clients. I have worked with a range of tools including Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Captivate, Microsoft office, JavaScript, Html5, WordPress and Moodle.
I have often been the senior member of staff at the project and also cover the art and craft. Since May 2011 I have also looked after the book keeping and health and safety aspects at the project. I also regularly drive the minibus to take members on trips around the northwest.
Virtually every year I have marked the GCSE or international GCSE physics papers for Edexcel. I have also- marked the A level general studies papers twice so far. I attended the three day standardisation meeting for international Physics in May 2013.
Working part time 2-3 days per week in many different secondary schools around Greater Manchester. I have been teaching mainly Science but often done IT, maths and design and technology.
Up to September 2001, I worked full time 45 hours per week and after that on a part time basis.
I mainly worked on telesales in a very busy high pressure environment. I would sell to trade and public and had to identify customer’s needs, recommend suitable systems and put together specifications from components ensuring compatibility and stock.
I worked on a door to door sales team for an average of 35 hours per week encouraging domestic customers to switch their gas supplier to Manweb. It was enjoyable and successful.
I was a full time classroom teacher of ages 13 to 17 in Physics (up to A level), technology and Information technology. I was a year 10 form tutor with responsibility for personal and social education.
I worked for the department of civil and structural engineering as the main research assistant on a Ministry of defence funded contract involving experimental investigation of the vulnerability of building materials to small arms fire.
