My classes are student-centric. I try to focus on the areas with which you have problems and work out ways to strengthen your abilities by seeing what works for you as an individual. In a group, I focus on getting the group to a standard whereby students can communicate in Mandarin and gain enough confidence to make mistakes. Most people learn best by making mistakes so most good teachers encourage mistakes to build confidence.
I am Taiwanese. I gained my certificate in Chinese teaching this year in the National Taiwan University in Taipei. My certificate is issued by the Taiwanese government so I am certified to teach Chinese worldwide to the highest standard. I was a television producer and I managed an English school in Taiwan with my husband for ten years before I came to the UK.
I have a certificate in Mandarin teaching that is awarded by the Ministry of Education of Taiwan. The certificate demands the highest levels of spoken and written Mandarin. I have a decade’s experience in teaching English to Taiwanese children and adults in my own school. I am a creative and supportive teacher and I believe that the student is at the centre of all education.
My background is in television. In Taiwan, this requires the highest level of proficiency in spoken and written Mandarin.
I love to travel independently and as cheaply as possible and I have travelled in eighteen countries. I have made meaningful connections with many individuals whom I have met on buses, in markets and at the roadside. I have been a student of life for a very long time and I enjoy expanding my experience when I get the chance.
I am a cheerful and gentle person who truly enjoys teaching. I particularly like to teach younger children because they learn so quickly and give of their best immediately, without fear of failure.

Owner of an English school (80 students) 1999 - 2008
I produced original teaching material and classroom materials for an English school that I operated with my husband for ten years. We produced all of our own texts and taught English in a way that was accessible to Chinese speakers because our method took account of the differences between Mandarin and other languages. The school never advertised and we had a roll of 80 students when we emigrated to the UK in 2018.
