Qualified teacher of German with over eight years of experience teaching in an outstanding UK school

Methodology

My main teaching method is through conversation and I use images and short tasks to support the student in their areas for development. I work my students hard but am also very positive and encouraging. Students therefore make good progress and usually enjoy my lessons!

Background

I have been a qualified teacher of German and French for over eight years, teaching students from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5 in an outstanding school and have taught over 2000 students in that time. I also have some tutoring experience. My students have made good progress and many have achieved better GCSE results than expected, thanks to my teaching and their hard work.

Rachel's CV

Profile
I am a hard-working and committed teacher, with over eight years of classroom
experience in an outstanding school, teaching German to A Level and
French to GCSE. I have a passion for teaching and learning languages
and have previously tutored, both professionally and voluntarily, in order to
support students as they prepared for various assessments and exams. My
year in Germany as a foreign language assistant (and subsequent trips to
Europe) have developed my language skills in professional and social contexts,
as well as my understanding of German and French culture. As a result, I teach
my students about the language and culture with confidence.

Skills
Establishing positive relationships quickly with students • Motivating students to progress to their fullest potential • High, yet realistic expectations of students • Encouraging students to reflect on their learning • Reflective practice within my teaching • Teaching German and French in the target language

Professional Development
As part of my continuous professional development, I am currently completing

world of online tutoring, as well as reminding me what it feels like to be a
language learner.

Other Skills
I have previously qualified as a lifeguard and swim teacher and am currently
trained in paediatric first aid.

Interests and Activities
My love of languages, other cultures and peoples has led me to exciting
places, such as Peru, Siberia and, of course, within Europe.
I love spending time outdoors with family and friends, being involved with
the youth and children’s groups at our church and travelling to new places
whenever possible. One of my favourite activities is going for dog walks and
when I have time, I enjoy running and playing the piano and cello.
