To ensure a full understanding, I like to break down concepts and strip right back to basics so that concepts are understood and thought through logically rather than memorising why something happens with minimal understanding. I set a minimal number of tasks so that students are not fed up or overwhelmed but still get practice on their own and can then display to me what they could and could not grasp when working by themselves, highlighting topics which need to be revisited. It is my experience that when minimal work is set a student will want to do the work as it will also show themselves that they are capable of the work and understand the concepts while not feeling bogged down and overwhelmed with work.
I am a 19yo student from a grammar school in Northern. I'm a first year medicinal chemistry student at Queen's. I have peer tutored younger students, as young as second year, as an extracurricular for school, and externally have tutored in GCSE chemistry and maths. Last term I taught students who had started sixth form but failed their maths GCSEs and worked with them to rebuild their confidence and build up the different concepts from the basics.

Queen's Medicinal Chemistry student - first year. I attended Lumen Christi College in Derry/L'Derry and have achieved an A grade at A Level in maths, biology and chemistry.
At GCSE level I achieved 8 A*s and 3 As, to include A*s in triple award science, maths, further maths and English language. As a student myself, I know a range of learning techniques and will always find the best way that works for each individual.
