Hello! I am an enthusiatic student who loves nothing mote than sharing my knowledge
and love of learning with young people.
We are all individuals, and I believe that is of huge importance when it comes to learning. I believe in making learning as student-centred as possible by determining what makes each student 'tick' and how they learn, and adapting my teaching to make the most of this.
Above I believe learning can be fantastic fun, even working for those formal examinations, and I aim to enthuse the student as far as possible since o know from experience we achieve best when we are also enjoying ourselves.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I specialise in Biology, which I will teach at all levels up to A-level (including Human Biology). I also teach GCSE Chemistry and Combined Science.
For younger students (Key Stage 1 up to Key Stage 3) I have experience at teaching both Maths and Science.
I am also able to tutor in preparation for the BMAT exam, required for entry into some medical schools.
Finally I can teach GCSE Latin, a rather different subject I know but one I am equally passionate about!
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I graduated from Oxford University with a 1st class BA in Medical Sciences in 2008, and am currently completing my medical training.
Prior to that I achieved 4As at A-level and 10A*s at GCSE.
- How much do you charge?
I charge £25/hour for all GCSE and A-level science subjects (and £27/hour for GCSE Latin).
For KS1-3 lessons I charge £20/hour.
I do not charge for travel if my journey is less than 5 miles from my location (SW17) otherwise I charge £5/lesson.
- Where do you teach?
I teach in the student's home.
I am based in the borough of Wandsworth, but am willing to teach in South West London, including the boroughs of Merton, Lambeth, Croydon and Sutton.
- When are you available?
Weekdays: I am available most weekday evenings: Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays are particularly good for me.
Weekends: I am available on Sunday afternoons, and sometimes on Saturdays.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I am extremely flexible. Age-wise, I have experience of teaching students from 6 to 18 years old. Ability-wise, I have taught a range from students who are struggling in school to those who have been identified as gifted and talented.
- What kind of experience do you have?
Teaching is my passion, and so I have both formal and informal experience of both small group and individual tutoring.
Whilst at Oxford University I was involved with a National Association for Gifted and Talented Youth (NAGTY) project for sixth form students. My role was to tutor 3 students in A level science, and mentor them through their sixth form study and university appplication.
I have also tutored 2 groups of students in preparation for the BMAT and medical school interviews.
I have tutored informally (children of family friends) science and maths for children between 12 and 15 years, and biology in the run-up to GCSE exams.
Over the last year I have taught regularly in 2 local primary schools, children between 6 and 11 years. We have studied science, first aid, maths and reading.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
