- Which subject(s) do you teach?
Classical, Musical Theatre, Jazz, Pop and Modern Singing, GCSE Music (WJEC in Wales)
- Tell me about your qualifications.
Rachel graduated from The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama with a first Class honours in Music (Voice) and also has the dip.ABRSM Qualification in Vocal Teaching. She is also a member of the Association of Singing Teachers and has passed all her ABRSM Singing Grades including Grade 8 Singing with Distinction. She also has grades in the violin, flute and piano up to Grade 6.
- How much do you charge?
£20 for half an hour and £30 for one hours lesson (all fees apply to both adults and children) Fees are paid per lesson and can be paid by cash or debit / credit card. Sibling and group lesson discount available Cancellation has to be at least 24 hours notice (excluding illness). I can also travel in areas of Cardiff North if there is a decent piano available although I do have my own portable piano also.
- Where do you teach?
Rachel teaches in her own home in Thornhill, Cardiff. Just a short walk away from Lisvane/Thornhill train station. Rachel can also travel in areas of Cardiff North if there is a decent piano available although she does have her own portable piano if required.
- When are you available?
Rachel teaches mostly in the evenings although depending on her schedule with other various commitements she is able to be flexible in the daytime, morning or afternoon. Days currently available are Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and Saturday mornings.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
RLM Professional Singing Lessons and Vocal coaching caters for all levels from beginner to advanced, both Adults and children.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
ABRSM Grade Exams, GCSE/AS/A LEVEL Practical exams, Trinity Singing Exams Grades 1-8, Rockschool
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
New to Rachel Louise Marsh's singing lessons, singing lessons done through Skype. If you have a Skype account and you have a desire to learn to sing, then learn through Skype. Same rates apply but payment would have to be in one block of 10 lessons by bank transfer.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
I hope my passion and enthusiasm for singing shines through in your lesson with me and helps you to achieve your goals in life. Please no timewasters and commitment must be solid unless exceptional circumstances arise! Pets are present at my home so not suitable if you are allergic to pet hair. You will be required to sign a company policy on enrolment of lessons!
- What kind of experience do you have?
In her first year at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Rachel was entered for the prestigious Kathleen Ferrier Junior Bursary award and was the first young singer from the college to win the competition. In 2009 she also won the title of Music in the Vale's Young Singer of the Year competition. Recently she was also a finalist in The Thelma King Award for Singers at the Mid Somerset Festival. At 15 she was accepted into The National Youth Choir of Great Britain where her directors were Deborah Caterrall and Mike Brewer. Concert performances with the choir included Classic FM evening with The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and a Gala Evening in Birmingham's Symphony Hall with Sir David Willcocks, John Rutter and The King's Singers. Previous operatic roles include Mrs Jaffett (Noye's fludde) in RWCMD's School Opera Project, the Countess from Mozart's Marriage of Figaro, Elisetta (Il matrimonio Segretto), Angelica (Orlando) and Dorthee from Massanet's Cendrillon. Rachel has also been the understudy soprano soloist to soprano Amanda Roocroft in the RWCMD college chorus performance of Brahms Requiem and has also been a participant in Masterclasses with Nathalie Dessay, James Gilcrest, Micheal Pollock and Elin Manahan Thomas. She has also performed with many choral societies and conductors as a soloist ranging from Crickhowell Choral (Maybel in Pirates of Penzance), Vivaldi's Gloria with The Harcombe Singers and Mozart's Requiem conducted by Adrian Partington in Llandaff Cathedral with the RWCMD chamber choir and Adrian Lucas in Bristol Cathedral (Come and Sing Mozart) Aside from performing, Rachel also teaches singing around South Wales. She has taught for a variety of stageschools and has, until recently, been appointed as a singing teacher for Forte School of Music. In March, Rachel was chosen to travel to China as an ambassador for RWCMD and to teach singing at the Chongqing Arts School in Chongqing. She was also in China as a guest soloist for the Welsh Assembly Government office and also for the official Wales Week reception. Recently her engagements includes 'The Messiah' with the Cardiff Bach Choir and a concert for the charity Teacher Aid where Rachel's new and established voice, cello and piano trio 'Triptych' made their first official appearance. Future engagements include soprano soloist for the Cardiff Bach Choir in Schubert's Mass in E flat and J.S Bach Cantata no.11, a participant in the Thelma King Award for Singers in Bath and soprano soloist for the Chepstow Male Voice Choir 25th Anniversary Concert. Rachel has also been employed by the Welsh National Opera Max department as the choral director of their new 14-16 year old singing club group.

- Where and with whom did you train?
Rachel trained at The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama with Janet Price and Catherine Roe Williams and previously with Gail Pearson, Marilyn Rees and Jeffrey Howard and Clifford Bunford
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
Yes I belong to the Incorporated Society for Musicians where I have been granted Registered Private teacher status.
