A common misconception of history is that it is merely a matter of recall; of rote learning to be regurgitated in an exam on command. Such an approach will only get a student so far - my teaching method offers an alternative which students of all levels will find much more engaging. The first lesson will as much be a lesson for me as the student - establishing the periods of history on which the curriculum focuses, and the areas in which the student wishes to improve. The second lesson onward will be both tutor and student driven - the student will be expected to have done 2 set readings and have written a 50 word summary of each for every lesson. This will develop both the student's understanding of the context of the subject matter and give them a varied background of historiography from both within and outside the curriculum - a strong advantage necessary to achieve higher grades in exams and coursework. The lessons themselves will focus largely on discussion of the material the student has read to consolidate and expand their understanding of the material. Students may also bring homework, coursework, and any other work given to them in school for discussion.
Hello! My name is Daisy and I am a recent graduate from the University of Nottingham in History. In my degree I gained a lot of teaching experience, from leading seminars for groups of up to ten, to editing fellow students' essays and running through their topic one-on-one. I am qualified to deliver lessons on topics spanning over 1000 years of history from around the world, with particular focus on British history, US history, and the Middle East.

Reliable, personable and very confident! Approachable and intelligent!
Daisy recently helped me refresh my GSCE maths skills for an employment assessment. She was very patient and helpful, providing numerous example questions for me to practise my skills. She is a really personable, friendly and knowledgeable tutor who put me at ease as we covered different mathematical topics. Daisy would be a brilliant tutor for boosting confidence and realising potential, as she aims to help students apply and understand mathematical topics.
She cares about people and about what she does. She enjoys seeing others succeed. She’s reliable and creative in her approach, and good at putting people at their ease. She communicates well with young people and is open and honest
I tutored Daisy briefly when she was an A Level student, and have discussed her teaching methodology with her since. Daisy works extremely hard to understand how a student is thinking about a particular concept, which enables her to tailor her teaching to each student's way of thinking and learning. As a result she is an extremely versatile and supportive teacher.
