I am a recent UCL (University College London) Natural Sciences graduate (First-Class Honours), specialising in Biomedical Sciences and Organic Chemistry. Having achieved 9A*s at GCSE, and 3 As at A-Level (Biology, Chemistry and Maths), I feel that I have good exam technique and am confident in my subjects. I want to help other students achieve good grades through excellent exam technique, so that they can fulfil their potential.
I like to see what my pupils are struggling with the most: these are the topics a pupil is least likely to work on themselves (I know this from first-hand experience!). From there, I plan lessons around these topics, including summaries, and lots of past paper questions, specific to the student's exam boards.
I provide my students with flashcards, revision techniques and past paper questions.
I have experience tutoring GCSE Maths and Biology. I worked with one student over a period of 3 months, studying GCSE Biology. We worked on exam technique, including timings and use of key words, and I also explained content to them using analogies and past paper questions. This pupil was initially receiving C/D grades, however, in their final GCSE Science exams, they achieved 3 As.
As a Student Ambassador at university, I worked on a six-week long project where I tutored Foundation-Level GCSE Maths to a group of five Year 11 students. We worked through past paper questions and I explained simple Maths tricks to the students, including the 9 times table finger trick, and the 'divisibility by three' rule.
I speak French at an intermediate level. I achieved an A in my AS-Level French and spent 6 weeks in Perpignan, France as an au-pair. I would be happy to help with GCSE-level French.
