My teaching method is to guide students in finding their own template to answer a problem because I believe that to understand a topic completely a strong foundation of 'why' that is the answer is just as important as what the answer is, especially when learning at school as that gives a springboard to understand more advanced concepts more easily.
I am a recent graduate with a masters degree in Physics who has a desire help and inspire others. My classes are flexible based on the needs of the student, with one of my year 8 pupils improving from a GCSE grade 3 to a 5 after just one summer of weekly tutoring.

I am a very friendly and enthusiastic physics graduate from the University of York, who ensures that clients and customers receive the best customer service and satisfaction. In my past role as a front of house server and bartender, I strived to achieve the best results daily, ensuring that my day-to-day tasks of greeting and serving customers, assisting with queries, replenishing stock and keeping the pub tidy were of the highest standards. I am an excellent people person, with great communication and listening skills, therefore, I can successfully assist customers with any requirements or requests they may have. I work extremely well in a team, as well as alone as I am able to confidently deal with problems, using my initiative to overcome challenging situations.
Waiter/Bartender, The Barrel Inn 07/2018 - 09/2018
A part time role working as both a waiter and bartender at a busy pub. During my time working here I quickly learned the importance of effective communication skills to save as much time as possible processing any orders, such as learning of dietary requirements specific to the customer as well as answering any queries about the menu in a clear and concise way, as well as maintaining efficient time management skills to help the customers have as enjoyable a meal as possible.
Assistant Tennis Coach, Graves Health and Sports Centre 01/2014 - 08/2015
Part-time role teaching 5-7 year olds how to play tennis in an understaffed environment. Due to being responsible for large groups of young children I developed communication skills which are both effective and concise, as well as my observational and forward planning skills from needing to anticipate any potential dangers and mitigate them. My time management skills have also improved due to needing to thoroughly plan sessions ahead of time to ensure there was enough time to cover everything.

Interests and responsibilities
Tennis: I have been a member of the University of York Tennis Club throughout the entirety of my degree and in my 2nd year was a member of the committee as the men’s 1st team captain. As captain, I have further developed my communication skills having to liaise frequently between fellow committee members and the players on my team. My organisation skills have also improved, having to organise trials for prospective team players, helping to arrange over 100 players with just 3 tennis courts and 3 hours to achieve this. During my 4th year I was the Vice President of the tennis club which involved further responsibilities, including the organisation of both our summer and winter formal meals to which over 50 people turned up to both, as well as arranging a number of social events throughout the year, including social doubles tournaments help the new members of the club to integrate with existing members.
Running: In October 2018 I participated in the Yorkshire Marathon in aid of Fibromyalgia Action UK, a charity very personal to me and managed to raise over £900 for their cause.
Tom is my son.
As a talented tennis player he coached mini tennis players while at school and has tutored some friends at maths while at university. Tom has a passion for maths and physics and is currently applying for a PGCE for next year.
Tom has been helping my younger brother with his maths for a few months now, and I can already see the huge improvement in his confidence! Tom is patient, organised and most importantly he makes the tutoring sessions fun and interesting. He has also helped outside the tutoring sessions when homework has been set, offering advice and methods to solve the questions set.
