Renes - Millbrook - Bass guitar

Methodology

I am was born to be a teacher and I love teaching, so contact me if you want genuine results.

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

I teach French up to A-level. I also teach Spanish beginners, that is up to GCSE level. Beside that, I hold a Degree in English and American literature and Civilisation which allows me to teach English as a foreign language.

- Tell me about your qualifications.

I hold a Master in English and American literature and Civilisation from the university Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris (France) in 1999. I have a PGCE secondary (Modern Foreign Languages 11-18). I also hold a Certificate of Level 3 in Spanish delivered by the University of Southampton.

- How much do you charge?

I mostly charge a flat rate of £20 forEFL and Early years music and £25 for the others. Bear in mind that translation and interpreting is more likely to cost more. I am NOT willing to travel more than 5 miles from SO15 2. I also have a package of 10 lessons with £30 discount off the total price.
Please contact me for more details. Also, I have been asked about some group lessons. I do accept to teach groups, however, I am UNABLE to accomodate any lesson. So unless, you have a place for me to deliver, I won't be able to satisfy your needs. I usually limit myself to groups pf 4 people (for £50/hr), provided everyone has the same level.

- Where do you teach?

I am now now teaching French and Spanish at Saint Annes Catholic School, in Southampton.

- When are you available?

I am available on Mondays from 4h30pm to 6pm andfrom 8pm-10pm// Wednesday evenings (from 8pm-10pm). This is not possible on a regular basis, because of other commitments.
Fridays between 3h30pm-4h30pm
I am more flexible during school holidays. BUT, I DO NOT WORK DURING THE WEEKEND. Sorry about that.
We might be able to find an arrangement about other times if need be. Please contact me for details.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

Due to my extensive experience over the last 9 years, teaching all levels from KS2 to adult learners, I am able to offer tutoring to a wide range of ages and levels in French. I teach Spanish up to GSCE level and as far as music is concerned I am a self taught musician and I play piano/bass/guitar/drums and percusion. I have a very good knowledge of the following styles: Latin; Funk, Blues, Jazz. I am an average reader and am very confident in improvisation/chord reading and learning by ear.

- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.

I am available for online tutoring. I have discovered that the best way for that to work is for the student to email any relevent documents to me prior to the lesson time, and then for us to be in contact via either Skype or another internet IM programme such as MSN or Yahoo Messenger during the allotted lesson time.

- Do you have a personal message for students?

I am a warm and inspiring person who boosts self-confidence in self-expression.I often associate Drama with Languages especially with French as we love melodrama. I am an open-minded and adaptable teacher who knows how to balance the fun with work. In my last 10 years of working with students, I have ALWAYS received praised for my teaching by both my students and fellow colleagues or inspectors.

Background

- What kind of experience do you have?

I have been teaching since 1st September 1999 in many schools (from primary schools up to Sixth-form colleges). I. I have taught music for an academic year at Woolston College (now Oasis).
In terms of music, I am a semi professional musician who performs on a weekely basis with various bands in the South of England. (Visit my website on the right side of my photo). Besides, I have released 3 solo albums in the last 4 years.

- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?

Yes, I do have a brand new one.

- Do you belong to any professional organisations?

I belong to the NASWUT (National Association of Schoolmasters Union of Women Teachers) which is the largest UK-wide teachers' union.

- Tell me about some of your current students.

Beside the fact that I am teaching as a fulltiime teacher to 10 different classes in my current school, I have given private tuitions in French to advanced level adults and GCSE level.
